It is probably the tree I am working on where you saw Williams dob, which I obtained from the 1939 register. The marriage details I obtained from his army records along with his mothers
christen name (Annie) which ties up with the 1881 census where Annie is a widow and William 11. I also cannot find his birth records which leaves me with the only chance of finding out his father from his marriage records. Unfortunately, as he married in Guernsey I am at a dead end as there is no online access to Guernsey BMD's online apart from LDS and they have nothing on his marriage
