Excellent advice.  I have an Apple Mac so use a completely different software.  I will look into Roots Magic with her as she lacks I T confidence thus needing a simple basic package.  I looked at some commercial packages with her last night and they were overwhelming for a beginner.

Thank you again

Hello,
A friend of mine is just beginning family history research and wants a simple, easy to use software for her windows 10 computer.  She has basic computer skills and wants a basic software tree program that will show her basic tree, allow photos and census returns and produce simple charts or reports.   Easy to use is essential and she doesn't mind paying for a commercial package if its suitable for her at novice level.   Any advice please ?

Just checked freecen - no sign of him there for 1851 or 1841.  Really annoying as I know he was living in Yonder Street, Ottery St Mary when he died in 1859

His son, William Skinner,  was a blacksmith but I don't know what his occupation was.  His wife was Sarah as far as I know.  Hazy details - sorry.  The main information I have is from baptismal and marriage records.  They indicate a John and Sarah Skinner who lived at Whimple, - part of the Ottery Parish.  I will have a look at Freecen -  I didn't know it existed !

Devon / 1841 and 1851 census returns help needed please

I am trying to find John Skinner born around 1774 who was living in Ottery St Mary, Devon when he died in 1859. I think he may have been born in Whimple, Devon.   I was able to locate his burial record using my Find My Past subscription.  However,  couldn't find him using FindMyPast for 1841 or 1851.  If anyone can locate him on census returns - please let me know
Many thanks

Thank you everyone for trying to help.  The 1872 West Derby Robert James O'Neill is not the right one as I found his baptismal record and his parents are Marguette and Laurence .  I think you are right he must have been registered somewhere with a different variation of surname. He may have grown up in Chorlton but actually been born and registered elsewhere e.g. his mother's hometown.
Thank you for your help

The wedding certificate states 1 Shepherd Street.  The marriage took place in All Saints Church Gorton.
