Armed Forces / Galloway Gazette 1916

I saw an article regarding John McConchie who served with the Army in NZ but when he came back to the UK they discovered that he had put the incorrect DOB & was discharged.  He was born 1857 but I think he said it was 1875 so they would think he was younger.

I can't find the article now, can anyone help please?

The OS name books have Crannah (and mid -) as

Quote
A small mound or hillocK hollowed out in the centre. it is now partly filled up and defaced, by a ditch being cut through it. The local tradition respecting it, is that it was made and used as a place of shelter by a person of the name of 'Tam' during the time of religious persecution in Scotland. It is also a well Known point on the boundary of MarnocK & Forglen

Can you read where William Dyker was born please in 1846?  Looks like Crannah or Crannal or?

The family name was changed between the census 1861 & 1871, from DYKER to DYER is there any way of finding out why?

Was it the 1861 census?
I thought I had attached it.  Is it attached now?  It was a list of the 5 children on the Scotlands People Site (Old Parish Registers) but all added together by the Registrar. It has Birth & baptism dates.  Does say at the top Marnoch.  The 1861 census has Dyker in Marnoch & the 1871 census says Dyer in Turriff

It doesn’t look like one to me.
Thank you for getting back to me.  I didn't think it was, I think maybe the one he was looking after has been lost.
