Thanks Max,

No details on the medal record. Think it will be difficult to track down. Will just have to focus on the gas attack side of the equation!!

World War One / Royal Engineers German Gas Attacks 1918
« on: Sunday 12 November 17 15:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,
My grandfather was in the Royal Engineers in WW1 -Sapper Bertie Fanstone 166574. He was severely gassed in 1918 and discharged from hospital in March 1919. His Silver War Badge record shows him as being in the 5th Reserve Battalion – although whether this relates to the time of injury or of discharge from the Army (December 918) I am not sure. He was a carpenter by trade. I am looking for any help or information which might help locate where on the Western Front he may have been injured – the record shows his injury was due to a Gas Shell.
Thanks.
