Yes, it's a bit of a head-scratcher.  Unfortunately, the birth record suggested in Post #4 doesn't appear to be for the same Annie Duncan: the father's name and profession do not match those on the death record.  Thank you for your suggestions.

This is a death record.  Of those details, the only I can give you for sure is the name: Annie Duncan.  Year of birth is probably around 1841.

I'm not sure if you're still interested in William Lyon Gibson and Annie McFadgen Gibson, but I am one of their great grandchildren and a grandchild of William Lyon Gibson (their son with the same name) and his wife Constance Maud Gibson.  I have photographs of the headstones in the Oamaru Cemetery.  Please feel free to get in touch if you so wish.
