New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Ashnz

Kia ora Minniehaha,
Thanks for our help.  I note that you have O'Brien on your names of interest.  My great grandmother Mary was an O'Brien, and landed in Otago from Tasmania.  Do you think there could be a link?  Where abouts in NZ are you.

Trying to link up with Ashnz who very kindly helped me some time ago with some info on James and Bridget McQuillen, who settled in Geraldine from Ireland.  Would like to ask some more questions.
Thanks

Big thank you to Mary and Gaffy for all your hard work and assistance.  Mary, I don't think that is my Robert as it does say on his headstone that he was born in the city of Cork and his birth day is 14 April.  I see you are from Allihies, it is such a lovely place.  I had a friend who lived in Castletownbearre (spelling!!) and I was lucky to spend some time there.
Gaffy, great work on the O'Briens, its just great to get all these connections.  Our peoples all left this behind them and we were too young to ask the questions and its so difficult to piece it all together, so you and Mary are truly special to assist people like myself as we try to unlock our forebears stories.
Best wishes to you both and I hope you have a happy Easter.

Big thanks.

I AM EMBARASSED TO SAY I DON'T KNOW!!!!  I HAVE TRIED TO FIND OUT SOME INFO FROM THE CEMETERY RECORDS AND THE NEWSPAPER BUT NOTHING.  THIS IS MY FRIENDS GRANDFATHER AND SHE KNOWS VERY LITTLE ABOUT HIM, OTHER THAN WHERE HE IS BURIED AND THE DATE OF HIS DEATH.  I AM PRESUMING THAT THE OTHER GAULS AT THE SAME CEMETERY ARE RELATIONS. IT IS AN UNCOMMON NAME HERE IN NZ AND I WAS SUPRISED TO FIND OUT HE WAS IRISH.
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST.

Hello.  I am trying to trace a Gaul from Wexford who came to New Zealand.  Im sure he was called Richard and he died in New Zealand, on 19 September, 1924 and is buried Waimate (South), NZ.

I appreciate any advice or assistance.
