Just to let everyone know that the great work of my Father - Brian Alfred Clavey, is now published on the Web going back to 1500's. Brian is son of Alfred, son of Henry, son of George, son of Matilda, son of Philip, son of John, son of Thomas, son of Thomas, son of Thomas, son of Richard Clavey of Stoke Lane. Brian died last year.

My branch of the Claveys is very much Somerset based - Mendip hills.

I know that Brian has been in touch with lots of Claveys around the world. There are two main family groups. The German group and the English group. Only the English group is found in the tree.

Most Clavey's in America and Germany are of the German family grouping. Most Clavey's in Australia are from the English Group (My Great Great Grandfather) Some notable American exceptions are that the Clavey that named "Clavey river" (he had a farm near it) was an English Clavey. http://family.sapphire-solutions.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=17

The clavey family tree and forum can be found at: www.clavey.org

A question that has always interested me is the connection between the two branches. The Germans are mainly from the North West. It may just be a surname coincidence, although both groups say Clavey the same way i.e. Clay Vee and not Cla V Ee (Most people reading my name for the first time get this wrong!)

Another interesting question is does the French town of "Claveyson" have any connection?
