The Lighter Side / Re: Housing and gardens post WW1
« on: Monday 20 December 21 18:43 GMT (UK)  »
Just as a matter of interest, I was brought up in a Council House built directly after the war. I
remember we had a long garden with plenty of room to grow vegetables, we had an Apple tree
and a Chicken run too.

My Dad used to spend many hours after work and weekends tending the garden. I had to go
and help pick some of the veg's and get the Chicken eggs. The Gooseberries were very prickly
and I was so scared of the Chickens!

Thanks for posting this River Tyne Lass. I've not noticed this feature on Freebmd, that's very interesting.

I'll pass on the date to my northern relatives.

Best wishes and take care. Pop in now again when you can and keep us posted on how you are
doing.  :)

If you decide to pass on all you have acquired in your Family History I am sure someone would
appreciate it.

I came to do mine when an Uncle of my Father asked me if I would take over his research as his
children were not interested. I could see that it meant so much to him that I decided I would, and
it has certainly been an interesting journey and put me firmly in touch with 'who I am'.

Cambridgeshire / Re: St Bartholomew Church - Newborough

Hi Rosalie, as chempat says contacting them directly is the way to go.

I contacted Peterborough Crematorium to see if they had any information on Churchyards
in that area. They do not cover Newborough and suggested contacting the Church directly.
Newborough Church does have a website and you can email them from there.

Cambridgeshire / Re: Mercy Ridgewell born Haslingfield

Hi David,

Squinting through a jeweller's eyeglass at the microfiche I just happen to have for Haslingfield (I disposed of the reader a long time ago) I cannot find this birth of Mercy. Any other clues.
