Hi Gwenda and Myyran

Apologies for the tardiness of my reply, but I'd "lost interest" in family research due to so many brick walls. However, I've now regained interest, so would like to share what I have if you're still searching for information on Jenkins family

best regards

Lynn

Hi Carole

thanks for that info, I hadn't seen this family tree on the website before, so I've managed to update a little info. Some info is incorrect though, but I'm not complaining!!

I'll keep trawling until I come up with the marriage info to Robert, it's surely got to turn up somewhere / sometime.

thank you for all your input, I'm extremely grateful for your time and efforts.

Best regards
Lynn

Hi Carole

Sarah just states married on the 1851 census return. According to the IGI, her parents are John and Elizabeth.

This is all I have for her at the moment. Just thinking outside the box and trying a different approach to getting the marriage information.

apologies be must log off until tomorrow, if I don't get this meal on the go, I'll be looking for alternative accomodation !

Will pick up any replies tomorrow, but seriously, I do appreciate your input.

regards

Lynn

Hi Carole

sorry, I'll explain myself a bit better ....it's been a long day.
Sarah marries (I assume) Robert Best sometime (again I assume) before the birth of their first child John in 1841, which I assumed perhaps after she was 16 in 1832 and before 1841. they're living in West Derby, Lancashire.
In 1851 she is living at Bridge St. Thornaby, Stockton on Tees, but has appeared to have re-married to a Jospeh Patterson. I have this marriage date.

I have all 3 births of the Best children, John, Eleanor and Robert, and on these certificates Sarah gives maiden name Snaith, and father Robert Best. On the certificate of 4th child Sarah, born 1848, Sarah does not name the father, and only calls herself Sarah Best and not "formerly Snaith".

I'm unsure if Robert Best died, or just moved on. The reason for trying for find the marriage info for Sarah and Robert, is to pinpoint Robert's father or Robert's birth location, so that I can continue my tracing.

thank you for your input Carole, I'm very greatful. Any help tracking this info down is a boon.

Hi Carole

I have Sarah on 1861 in Thornaby, she was born in Whitby in 1818. On 1841 census with her husband in West Derby, Lancashire, the enumerator has them as being born in that county, which isn't correct.

HI Colin

I'm researching the Horton family you mention, who originally came from Kinver in Staffs.

If you'd like to e-mail me back, perhaps we can assist each other?

Hi Lesley

thank you for your response, it was a surprise as it's been some time since I posted this.

I've been researching Enid for a friend, who bought one of her diaries at an auction. He's from the Staithes area, and the diary covered life on holiday in Staithes with her mother. Part one is now in print (with the blessing of her other daughter ) but I'm sure he'd be excited to hear that you've been in touch.

may I contact him and inform him of your response, as I'm sure he'd like to contact you?

regards

Lynn
