HI  I know for a fact you are on the money. Grand ma said her grand ma and grand pa were French and hardly spoke English. Never got there names as grandma died back in the early 70's Great gma was Mary Ann Gordge - Hodder- Gollop  Alb :D

Hi  Yes but haven't had much time to put in.  Acording to my grandpa his father was a Bramble he deserted from the Royal Navy should have been 1n the 1870 range and changed his name to Blenman witch was his Grand parents name Havent had much luck Must be something to it because can't find birth records for him under Blenman  Thanks for the re   Any light on the subject is greatly appreciated  al b

Hi  Thankyou for the info. What I am mainly diging for is Great grand pa was supose to have deserted from the Royal Navy and changed his name. was told his name was originally Bramble he changed it to Charles George Blenman the Blenman name was picked up from his grandma's madin name.  He might have kept the charles but dont no for sure grand pa never talked about him dont think there was much love there.  Any help on these characters is appreciated like looking for a needle in a hay stack    Thanks to all  al b

HI again    Still diging lots to read My Great Great grandfather was William Gollop He was my Grandmothers father. He was killed 1893 by a rock slide while fishing I have a pic of him send me a personal message and We can swap e mail address's al b ;D

HI  The only thing I have on a middle name is Grandmas one brother was named James Gollop the other was John and dads middle name was James don't know if that was for King James or something else. Have to go back through the 100+ pages I have on that very interesting Cheers  al b
