Dear Sasha,
Thanks for contacting me.
I can't immediately see a link but I'd like to explore the possibility.
At about the time your direct-line ancestor John Kirk was born, my (Gt. X4) Grandparents, Robert Kirke and his wife Dinah (nee Gray) were bringing up a family in Cottingham and, by co-incidence had a son John, christened at Cottingham on 14 JULY 1800.
If there is a link, it must obviously come at some earlier stage.
Robert Kirke had himself been baptised at Cottingham on 5 FEB 1767 (IGI C106642), the son of Henry Kirke and Jane (nee Browne). I am not aware that Henry and Jane had any other children but that does not mean that they didn't. Do you know the parents of your James Kirk ?
Henry Kirke was also baptised at Cottingham, on 23 MAY 1741 the son of James Kirke. I don't know James' wife but a James Kirk married an Ellin Acham on 24 JUNE 1740, the year before Henry was baptised.
A James Kirke had been Christened at Cottingham on 04 JAN 1714, the son of Henry Kirke, but I have not yet confirmed that this is my James Kirke.
Can you see any links ?
Best Wishes,
Geoff Bartholomew.
