You will probably have to purchase the marriage certificate. 

There is a Maria in Salford in 1841 with father William but she gets married in 1843, Manchester.

Their 'abode' was the same as Samson & Gravelinia and Elijah was also a Basket Maker

Freebmd has the typed indexes on their website.  I have checked these for 1972 & 1973 and he is not listed but it is possible he was missed off by the person typing the lists.

What is your source for his death  :-\
