Hi Eric et al....
I am very confused .. i have John and Ann (Ison ) born 1816 Church Langton on my tree... they were married in 1831 and had 11 children.. i have found the marriage entry .. staing that he is a batchelor and she a spinster.. ( although this would of meant she married around 15/16yrs old )
I have found Ann in 1881 living with some of her younger children.. age 62, meaning that she was born around the time i have for her... albeit a couple of years
i am so confused now  :o

Hello Eric

I think we could be related !
Francis Newbery and Frances Chissel are my husbands decendants.
I have that John Newbery ( son of Francis & Hannah Mason)  married Ann Ison 18 Oct 1831 St Philip, Warwickshire, England,, although Im not 100% that this is them.. although in 1851 census there is a John Newbery aged 40 years, born Ashy de la zouch a tailor married to Ann  Their children I have are Mary Ann , Frederick, Sarah, Emma, Thomas, Amelia, Louisa A, Emma J, Frances H and John Henry. If you would like to inbox me , we could compare notes :O)
regards Jo

Thank you also Judith for the info.

I can relate to the Steel works side of things, as my grandfather , his brother worked in the Steel Works in Pontardawe, Swansea, South Wales, so i presume he got his work in Oz from working with my grandfather back home.
I have googled mapped both addresses, and gives me an insight.. i also see theres a Roser living at the address too who is an Electrician... pity he hasnt got a website for me to email him.. hubby willl have a fit if i ring Australia ! Suppose i could write in the old fashioned way.

Think as well that Lydia must of been a child bride.. i was  too... i was twenty seven , but i tell people i was ha ha  ;D

Thanks again everyone., if you come across anymore i will be eternally greatful  ;)

Australia / Hallidays from Whitstable who flitted to Oz

Hi
I have Stephen George Halliday married Alice Orpin..in 1908 ...can't find them in 1911 in 1912 Stephen went to Australia, i presume for work as in 1913 Alice followed with their four children all under 4 years of age ( poor woman)
One of thier children, Lydia Lillian Eileen,( born1910) married Edward John Humphreys (born 1897) in 1925, he arrived from Wales in 1922. They had a daughter called Alice Catherine married Ivan William Roser
Ive been told Lydia died in 2001 ( thanks to RC members)
A couple of questions....
What age is it legal to marry in OZ because if they married in 1925, Lydia was only 15 ?or maybe just 16 or they said she was older

What info is available on Oz marriage certs and as im in the UK how much are they ?

Hoping really that i can connected with someone related to the theses names, i had given up hope of finding my Great Uncle Edward as all i knew was he emigrated to Australia.. would like the family of Lydia to know about his family back in Wales.

Hi Edwin

Thanks for the info you PMd me.. Interesting.. As she was born the same time as Elizabeth Hope who Married Joseph McCaslin.. her parents were then Richard & Martha Hope (nee Entwistle)... She states she is widowed on the marriage document. Now Joseph married Emma Hardacre in 1876. I thought Elizabeth had died.. seemingly not.. now to try and find her in censuses between 1871-1901.. I have her in 1861 , living with Joseph and their baby son... who i have found living in a later census with Joseph & Emma.. wonder what happened for her marriage to break and leave her child. This is why i thought she had died

Hello Jo,

that's the marriage and it looks as though it is the same John H Traynor. Is Elizabeth Hope McCaslin in your family?

heywood

interested in Elizabeth ( Hope ) McCaslin, who was married to Joseph McCaslin who was the brother of my 2 x great grandfather. I thought she had died as he married Emma Hardacre in 1876.
