Thanks Scott.

I am looking for information about the cemeteries in Stranraer. I have an Agnes McNab nee Jackson who died in 1866 and I can't work out where she might have been buried. She died in Queen street.

Does anyone know the date that Glebe cemetery was opened?

Most of all I am trying to find anything about her husband James McNab or McNaby or even McNabney, sherrif officer. I know nothing except the name and even that has been listed in various ways on the children's certs. He may have died before 1841.

Not such a long shot, I am not ruling anything out until I get something more definite

Thanks that is the right family, I am trying to go the other way to get past Mary Charters and father Thomas. Could also be Chartres.

So not much more than Family Search. I was hoping there might be an "occupation" or a "parish of"

Do you know what Branton Twyst means?

Do you know where the actual records are?

thanks for the look up
Julie

I have a census with her birthplace of Branton and a Family Search record saying she was baptised at the Pressy church in Branton 16th August 1805, born 25th July 1805. Father Thomas Charters mother Mary.
I have no siblings or marriage or anything else for this family.

Does anyone know where the actual parish registers might be for Branton Presbyterian?

Mary Charters went on to Marry John Wait in Tynemouth in 1826, but her father is not listed on the marriage record to confirm I have the right parents or any more detail.

Thanks Annie for all the suggestions. I have actually found him on the 1841 census! After 15 years of looking on and off. He is living with his mother Agnes Jackson and brother Jackson McNab. William names his second daughter Agnes, and third daughter Annie Jackson McNab.

Having found out more about where he died and his parents from his brothers death cert, I think I may have used up all my luck for today. Common names without useful middle names make the detective work more "indepth".

I will check the newspapers next.

Place of registration is same as other people on page who died in Uig. But I can't read it.

Do you think it could say "His x Mark Employer"?

can't find his girls in 1871, and in 1881 they are in Glasgow with the widow of William.
