Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Confusing Ancestry Results
« on: Wednesday 30 June 21 12:23 BST (UK)  »
I should have said the cousins were on M's maternal side just to show those are in the "normal" cousin's range. I have checked M's shared matches with D and there are some 2nd to 3rd Cousins with Cms between 102 and 232 and the ones I have been able to trace back on the family tree are on D's maternal side.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Confusing Ancestry Results
« on: Tuesday 29 June 21 10:43 BST (UK)  »
My son M matches his father's brother D with 789 Cms. Ancestry say on M's results that D is 1st-2nd Cousin. D's results show my son M as nephew. I see from DNA Painter that 789Cms is more likely to be half uncle ! M's other known cousins have 770 and 892 Cms matches respectively. Other than the obvious, is there an explanation for this "Uncle's" result ?

My Ancestry results came back with a niece I had not heard of, I am pretty sure I have made a connection to one of my late siblings through locality at the time of her birth. My problem is should I keep this information to myself ?

Kent / Re: London Meat Supply Company

Many thanks for your replies. The sender of the postcard actually gives the date of Saturday 29/12/1906 and says the photo was taken the week before. My guess is that it was a promotional photo taken for the opening of the shop, just in time for Christmas, so would fit in with the shop being there from 1907. There is a possibility that the sender worked there and is in the photo.
I have sent an email with the photo to the Sevenoaks Society but not heard back from them yet

Kent / London Meat Supply Company

The attached photo postcard was taken c1906. In a 1920 Sevenoaks Chronicle there is an advert for The London Meat Supply Company, giving the address as "78 High Street (next door to International Stores)" I was wondering if this postcard could be of the of Sevenoaks premises, the confusing part being that the postmark is Hawkhurst, however the branch of my family who has this photo were living at Westerham at the time, which makes me think it might be Sevenoaks and not Hawkhurst as was first thought, and which I have researched. I would be pleased if anyone has information regarding this butcher's shop.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Unknown gt grandfather
« on: Sunday 25 October 20 12:53 GMT (UK)  »
My paternal grandmother Florence was born in 1881 to my gt grandmother Sarah who had been a Widow for six years ! Florence had a number of older half siblings and I have a Dna match of 4th to 6th cousin with one of their descendants with whom I am in touch. I also have Dna matches through Sarah's maiden name, but a lot of unidentified 3rd-4th cousins who I cannot match to either side of my family. Is there anything I can do to help me solve the problem of who my grandmother's father might be ? Thank you.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Auto Clustering at MyHeritage

Hi, I have also found that if you hover over the small grey coloured squares on the same line as the appropriate cluster, you will see two names appear say, John + Ben, (Ben is not part of John's cluster) If you follow the grey line up you will see that Ben appears in a separate cluster. You may have more than one grey area, showing different possible connections for the same person, which is quite helpful if you already "know" of this connection.

I have also downloaded my clusters for a second time and they appear much different than the previous one a month ago. First time I had 42 clusters, the largest with 10 people, second batch was just 16 clusters, the largest being 5 members. Also when doing the triangulation only once have I found that 3 persons in a group, plus myself do actually triangulate. I too am somewhat confused.
