Many thanks for your reply, smudwhisk. I've got a few more look-ups to do on Deceased Online so I'll take a look at the maps there too.

Thanks for the tip!  :)

Graveyards and Gravestones / Manor Park Cemetery, London

Using the Deceased Online website, I have found the burial details of several family members who were buried in Manor Park Cemetery. I am hoping to visit the Cemetery soon and try to locate their graves but having searched for ancestors in large cemeteries before I know what an extremely difficult job this is (and one which invariably turns out to be unsuccessful).

The map on the Cemetery's website shows the different numbered and lettered areas there, and I wondered if anyone else here who has searched the Cemetery has found the map to be any help. Do the area numbers etc bear any relevance to the details in the burial records of 90+ years ago?

Thanks in advance for any help.

That's excellent, John! Thank you so much!

I had found that website earlier but the version I found didn't have the alphabetical index at the bottom of the page, so it was impossible to search. However, I managed to find all the names I was looking for using the link that you provided so I'm very grateful to you  ;D

Thanks for your reply, Bookbox.

Unfortunately my anti-virus software won't let me open that link, apparently it's infected!  :(

Does anybody know if the burial records for Abney Park Cemetery are available to search online?

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Sherriff family. Any info please?

I realise that this thread is now several years old but I'm hoping that some of those who have been participating are still keeping tabs on it.

I am also descended from the same Sherriff family - my grandfather, Henry, is the brother standing between Tom and Sid in the photo which Kiteflyer posted!

I have a copy of this photo too (although not in such good condition!), it was given to me by my second cousin Fred who is the grandson of the fourth brother, Bill, who is sitting alongside father William in the photo.

There were two other brothers, by the way, who aren't in the photo - Arthur (Art) and Herbert (Bert).

Keeping my fingers crossed that the rest of the Sherriff clan are still reading this!

In the South London Chronicle - Saturday 19 September 1868 - Brookfield Lodge, Brookfield Road, Victoria Park was offered for lease also a detached cottage immediately in the rear, and known as Cassland Cottage, Cassland Road.

Bit before the dates you're looking for - but you never know...

Thanks, Jonquill, that's a great piece of information! By complete coincidence I discovered yesterday that my grandfather's uncle lived in Cassland Road at the time of the 1891 census. I'm now wondering whether my grandfather was being looked after by his uncle and family when he was enrolled at Sidney Road School.
