Hi

Did you search for him in the City directories of Berlin?
https://digital.zlb.de/viewer/berliner-adressbuecher/
https://digital.zlb.de/viewer/berliner-adress-telefon-branchenbuecher/

Or in the City directories of the other cities you mentioned?
Here you can find the City directories of Hannover:
https://www.gwlb.de/niedersaechsische-adressbuecher
https://digitale-sammlungen.gwlb.de/start

Here you can find newspapers of Berlin and many other parts of Germany:
https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/newspaper

I couldn't find any document that confirms that he was incarcerated in a labor camp here.

Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: English Cemetery at Meggen, Lucerne, Switzerland
« on: Monday 23 October 23 20:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Nine years later I revisited the English Cemetery in Meggen near Lucerne. I took pictures of some of the old headstones (the same headstones as last time), but there were also some headstones where you could barely read the inscriptions. I also found three graves which I didn't see in 2014, they are situated near the chapel / church.

Warwickshire / Dromgole Lilly from Birmingham died in Valduna, Rankweil, Austria
« on: Sunday 02 April 23 17:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi

In the last days I read the death records of Rankweil in Vorarlberg, Austria (1890-1910). There are also registered the deaths of the people who died in the so called "Wohltätigkeitsanstalt" Valduna. Most of the people who died at Valduna were either Austrians or Swiss, but I also found the following entry:

Am 7. Juli 1910 um 7 Uhr früh, Wohlt.-Anstalt Valduna, Dromgole Lilly, ledig, Erzieherin, zuständig nach Birmingham, England, geboren in Birmingham, 56 Jahre, Paranoia (Marasmus), beerdigt 09.07.1910 in Valduna. (Rankweil, Sterbebuch 1890-1912, Seite 1912_0245)

On the 7th July 1910 at 7 o'clock in the morning, Asylum Valduna, Dromgole Lilly, single, Teacher or Gouvernante, born in Birmingham, England, age 56 years (so born in 1854), cause of death Paranoia (Marasmus), buried 9th July 1910 in Valduna. (Rankweil, Sterbebuch 1890-1912, page 1912_0245)

I don't know more than what is written in this death record.

Hi

You have to look at the archives in Niedersachsen:
https://www.arcinsys.niedersachsen.de/arcinsys/start.action

Hattendorf belongs to the "Evangelisch-lutherische Landeskirche Hannover".
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Kirchen_in_der_Evangelisch-lutherischen_Landeskirche_Hannovers

So you should look at the "Landeskirchliches Archiv Hannover".
https://www.arcinsys.niedersachsen.de/arcinsys/detailAction.action?detailid=a43
https://www.landeskirchlichesarchiv-hannover.de/

But I couldn't find the Parish records online on the arcinsys website.

Hi

I couldn't find the Brasil Immigration Cards of Andre and Susana, but I found one of Jorge Marai, born in Hungary 18.09.1912 with Nationality Argentino (naturalized 05.06.1953) on familysearch. His parents were Matyas Marai and Anna Sillerman (maybe Silbermann). As this is a tourist paper there is not much information on the second page.

Finaly I found the Brazil Immigration Card of Andres Marai on familysearch too (mother Jana Silbermann).

Hi

Did you search for their Brazil Immigration Card on familysearch or ancestry? On familysearch you can look at the original records for free, each record contains two pages.

You can also do a search on familysearch with "Brazil" or "Argentina" as the place where they lived. Maybe you can also find their grave on findagrave or billiongraves.

Sometimes I find the date of death of someone who lived and died in Brazil when searching the newspaper archives of Brazil (search under Locality first).

Hi

The "Archives départementales des Alpes Maritimes" also has the Census Lists, which are online for 1921, 1926, 1931 and 1936. First we should find out which part of the City the "Route de Crémat, domaine de Créqui" belonged to. I have just found a "pension Créqui" in the "quartier Crémat" in the 1931 census, 4ème canton, partie 3, page 331/332.

Europe / Re: Forced labour during WWII - information on relatives sought.
« on: Wednesday 12 January 22 00:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

If you are researching forced laborers or displaced persons, the Arolsen Archives online are the first database you should look at. They have many different kinds of documents about forced laborers and their employers and also passenger manifests for ships to Australia. It is possible that they have some more documents than the ones who are already available online.

Hi

I don't know more facts than the ones written in the newspaper article. It says that he was a chemist in the United States and a musician later in Switzerland. I don't know if and when or where he studied, but I'm looking at the student lists of some universities in Europe at the moment.
