Thanks for the update Dianne.

Glad to see you're still working on this topic from 2015  :D

Hi abijacksonnnn

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

I've started a new topic for you as you posted at the bottom of a topic completed in 2017.

Have you contacted the Friends of the cemetery to see if they can advise you what the procedure is for this?

https://friendsofhullgeneralcemetery.com/more/contact-us/

They should be able to confirm whether they grave is private or public and whether a headstone may exist if it's a private grave. Traditionally, public graves do not have headstones.

Hello Peter

I got a notification that you had posted, likewise Gwendoline should receive one as long as her email address hasn't changed.

According to her profile, she was last online here in April 2022, fingers crossed she comes back soon.

Hi Alan

You've tagged your request onto the end of an old topic, things have moved on since 2012.

In that time FindMyPast did indeed digitise and transcribe the Westminster registers but when the contract ran out, the data set moved to Ancestry. There is no entry for the marriage.

The page range for December quarter 1869 is 620-709 with the lower numbers being Anglican churches and the upper end being register office or registrar attended marriages.

The Guild of One Name Studies does not have a record either of this entry number which suggests the marriage was at the Register Office

https://one-name.org/marriage-locator/

If that's the case, the you will only be able to get a copy from the GRO or register office (but the GRO reference numbers won't help them), Westminster City Archives don't have the register office marriage registers.

Hi all

Thanks for your replies.

William Augustus did die as a young child. So much more is online now.

In the intervening years, I have tracked them all down, birth, marriages and deaths.

For MrsSollo

Sherry is more frequently occurring in the indexes than you would think. The surname supposedly derives from something like Court McSherry in County Cork. Our twig and branch comes from Dublin though.

Would love to go back prior to 1792 but the records don't exist online (yet). It's not for the want of trying and DNA tests.
