Louth / Jane CRILLY b.1818 Dundalk, Louth
« on: Wednesday 15 September 10 10:58 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I hope I am doing this right  ???

I am hoping to find the birth and parents of my 3 x Great-grandmother, Jane CRILLY.

Jane left Ireland for Australia onboard the "Emerald Isle" in 1841.  Her age was given as 23.  Her parents were Thomas CRILLY and Jane ALEXANDER.

Jane married Robert EVANS in 1846 at Goulburn, New South Wales.  Jane died in 1880 at Goulburn.

Any information/assistance  would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

Christine

Well, the information about James - stopped be looking further at William Weir and Marion Pait.

Why would the children be known as PATE/PEAT - if they WEIRs  ???

I suspect a "skeleton in the cupboard"  :-\

I will try and find Janet's death.

Once again, thank you - Gadget.

Oh I am sorry to confuse you!  :-[

For the rest of Mary's life in Australia - she either signed her name as Mary Larkham (her common law partner) or Mary WEIR (WARE).

The only ones showing anything close to that age range and b. Lanarkshire in the 1841 are

Boghead, Lesmahagow:

Jean Peat, 60-64, Independent, b. Lanarkshire

and

Castlegate, Lanark

Janet Peat, 55-59, Independant, b. Lanarkshire

There are various Jane/Janet/Jean Pate/Peat/Peate but either too young or not born Lanark. Also those who were living elsewhere but b. Scotland. Very tricky to locate.

You could tried Freecen:

http://www.freecen.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

I believe that it is complete for Scotland for 1841.

Hello again,

Thank you for all your assistance, Gadget.

Do you know where Castlegate, Lanark is?  The "Castlegate, Lanark

Janet Peat, 55-59, Independant, b. Lanarkshire"
might be a possible.

Janet was left 500 pounds stirling in Mary's Will.

Christine
