In 1891 Ada is a servant to Isabella Vanhook.

Familysearch has this birth entry

Carley I VANHOOK mother Ada MOUTHS in 1831 in Pulaski, Kentucky gender 9  :-\

with Ada being born in 1872 she's be too old to have a child in 1831 but there's 2 unusual names ....

(I think I'm on totally the wrong track with this one  >:( )

Southampton street directories are online

Follow the link on the web page

http://www.southampton.gov.uk/arts-heritage/southampton-archives/plimsoll.aspx

Then choose one with electronic access. There are several pages on the list so scroll through for the years you want.

The D'Elboux manuscripts    entry 1058

http://www.shelwin.com/e/Thanet_Research/pk_delbo2.pdf

mentions Laurence ROOKE

Thomas, Elisabeth, Marie, George, Anne, Ursula, William John & William ch.

I presume these were his children.

Were the names Marie and Mary interchangeable :-\

It might be worth investigating the will of Laurence ROOKE of Monks Horton (not too far away) dated 1612.

There is a marriage licence for a John Bubbers, batchelor, to Elizabeth Fox, spinster both of Elham. at S M (I think that's St Mary) Northgate, Canterbury December 19th 1794 1749.

A street directory should tell where they were living.

There are a few on online on the Lynsted with Kingsdown Society website

http://www.lynsted-society.co.uk/Library/Data/Directories/1903_1904_Milton_Next_Sittingbourne_Union_Directory.html

The 1908 gazetteer shows Alfred Baker living in Upper Tickham
Ludgate Road from Lynsted Street.

I can't see him in 1903-4 directory.

Rural streets rarely had house numbers and often still don't.

There is a old photo of Lucerne Street plus a couple of photos of The Plough
