I have been researching a family for a long time as have several other people.  They have all got stuck at the same point and had either given up or made assumptions.  When I eventually cracked this brickwall I decided to put the tree on Ancestry and make it public, complete with BMD, wills etc.

I am surprised how few people have copied this tree.

So there may be a possibility that William was married twice.

These children had different fathers.

I posted them as they were baptised in the right time frame.

There are a few good sites for seeing what records are available and where

https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Greenwich_St_Alfege,_Kent_Genealogy
scroll down to resources & parish records.

Medway parish records are online (if he was baptised there)

https://cityark.medway.gov.uk/results

but usually there was no address given just the area/town

My immediate family is fairly small.

But both my maternal grandparents had around 9 sibings apiece.

My paternal Gt grandfather had 15 children (not all survived to adulthood though) and no one with that surname is showing as a match. I suppose they could be one of the many who don't have a tree on Ancestry.

755 being fourth cousin or closer.

 :o

755! I wonder if anyone can better that.

Just wondering what sort of numbers people are getting on Ancestry? Not the pages of distant matches but the ones that are 4th cousins or closer which hopefully you have a realistic chance of matching.

I have 116
OH has 138

Are these numbers pretty average?
