Hi Tomlingirl,

To be honest I have no idea about the procedure to have someone buried on the home property.

I did wonder if George could be buried in a churchyard, but that still doesn't explain why there isn't a record of death.

Does NZSG have access to burial records other than what is listed on the plaque out the front of the cemetery?

Over the years the NZSG have visited cemeteries and transcribed the headstones, and along with other sources they have been given, have complied a CD of the Cemetery Location. Lu will have checked this, using soundex as well, in case the name has been spelt wrong, and sadly George is not on it.

The poster probably isn't aware that when they start Pming one person with more information, say, the one that has helped the most, that the others on the board are left in the dark of the new information.   I have seen wording along the lines of "Your PM is appreciated but this information should be posted on the thread as others could be helping".

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Entering Widow in Tree
« on: Tuesday 17 April 18 00:42 BST (UK)  »
How do i enter the spouse of a family member if they are a widow? Do i enter them with their birth name or do i enter them with their name from their first marriage?
Thank you
Rob

When a widow came into our tree, I entered her married name, in the notes I put what the previous name was, this was easier for me as there weren't any issue, normally I put the birth name in, and their previous marriage details in if there were children from the 2nd/3rd marriage.  As said personal choice :D

I feel so strongly, about what I have written above that from today before I help anyone I am going to look at their track record.  If I find that they have not acknowledged help on public posts hitherto - then I am not going to waste my time helping that person.

There have been numerous discussions about this in the past, the no thank you (not secretly thanks) and I think you will find that there are Rootchatter's who have made their lists in not helping certain people.

The Lighter Side / Re: Helpful photo caption!

I have a small photo, guessing 1918 onwards, written on the back is Daisy and Buttercup, my father's family cows!    ;D ;D :D

About a year before my mother died (2002), she started naming the photos, so imagine my surprise when I came across one of my ggrandparents, after she died :D

Clearly it ravaged the entire world.

My grandfather here in NZ  1918, died from it leaving three young children.
