Hi Ian  I will have a look at curious fox as it looks like it within my direct line as Samuel/Edmund/Thomas are my great grandfathers line.
Many thanks for your help

Is this from the Boar war muster as Herberts brother Edward (my grandfather) was in the boar war,
and I did wonder if Herbert would have gone with him.

Hi many thanks but I am aware of this Herbert Nathanial and its proving to be a thorn as I have
Herbert birth cert and he had only Herbert and although I have tried to bring the two together it
has proved fruitless. The trees on ancestry have no supporting sources. I am on ancestry and have been trying all other sources and it is without doubt my brick wall.
Thank you for your help.

Hi can anyone help me find Herbert Gooch after1893. Herbert my greatuncle was born 9,2.1870 in Heathersett Norfolk to Alfred and Harriett Gooch. On the 1881 census they were in Tadcaster Yorkshire.
On the 1891 census he was with his grandparents in Caston Norfolk. In 1888 he joined the Royal Marines Light Infantry and was stationed at Portsmouth.
I am struggling to find any records after this so any help would be gratefully received.

Hello Tomscot
Many thanks for your message. I had ordered Alfreds birth  from GRO and had a phone call from them saying that Alfred was Walter. Upon receipt of the BC it was the child of Daniel/Lydia.I can only presume that he was born Walter but christened Alfred. He was the first boy born after the first Alfred 1843-1845.However I cannot find Alfreds death. His wife Sarah died in 1919 and on the certificate showed Alfred of no work.
I also have among Daniel/Lydia children an Frances E 1853-1854,Emily 1855-1856.
May I ask what sort of documents you have in your records, ?
Many thanks regards Roger
