Inverness / Re: McBean/Fraser/McGlashan/MacIntosh Daviot and Dunlichty

My 4x gr grandfather was Duncan Vass baptised born c 1766-1768 in Inverness.

I have been trying to connect him to David Vass and his wife Jean Cumming who had a number of children including a Duncan baptised 1745.
I can't remember where I got this info from but see the entry which mentions Mr Mc Bean who must have been the Minister and Provost Fraser.
"David Vase(or Vause)officer and his spouse Jean Cumming had a child baptised by Mr Mc Bean called (Duncan). Duncan Fraser of Achnagairn, Dun. Fraser son to Provost Fraser, Duncan Clark Mercht

Hi Kezza
Unfortunately I have no further information on Duncan Vass birth
Do you know if he had a second wife - Isabella Bowman?
It seems to me that he did and Isabella died in Prescott  Lancs where Duncan's son and family lived.

Staffordshire / Re: Querying Marriage date and Marriage Banns

Thank you Lizzie.

I know the start of the years changed around that time but it is still strange that there is so long between the date of Banns (5 Dec) and marriage date(1 May).

Staffordshire / Querying Marriage date and Marriage Banns
« on: Friday 25 November 22 13:14 GMT (UK)  »
My 5x grgrandparents were married 1/5/1757 but the Banns of marriage were dated 5/12/1757 and the Marriage Notice dated 19/12 1757 according to Family Search. I have not been able to verify either as I will need to see the original documents.
Can anyone help with this?

Yes Rosie I have found this in the past with records on Ancestry.
I usually try all other records before I commit to entering the information in my tree.
Quite often the information in other trees is at best impossible.
