Armed Forces / Help to identify and date uniform, please
« on: Thursday 07 September 23 22:09 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know what the uniform of the fellow on the left is, please?
It could be Australian, maybe WW2-ish?
Sorry, it's not a great photo, and I don't have access to the original, just this scanned image.
Thank you

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Translate death record from Belgium please

Thank you Viktoria for translating this document

Re: your question about Marie's maiden surname
I know almost nothing about Marie, other than some information that was sent to me which was transcribed from a birth record.
Marie gave up a daughter at birth in 1834, the daughter was named Elisa Louise Leem by the attendant of the institution. Maria returned in 1840 and claimed her daughter, telling them that her name was Maria Ludorica Vyane (no father of husband appears). She then changed the daughter's name to Elisa Vyane on 25 May 1840 in Ghent.

Thanks for the extra info about surnames for women in Belgium, seems like I have two different women here.

Thank you again Viktoria for your translation and Mckha489 for linking the two posts together, much appreciated.

Here is the annotation to the above record, it is very feint on the original image so I've had a go at making it a bit darker. Unfortunately it's not very clear :(

Thanks in advance for any help on these
Kind regards

Hello everyone

This death record contains the name Maria Louise Vyane who may be my 3x GGmother.

Is anyone able to translate this into English please?
I'm not sure how much of the original image I can post, I hope this section is ok. There is also an annotation on the side of this record that I'll post below.

Thanks you
Hilary

Kent / Re: Obituary ~ 2015 Nicholas BLAKE in Kent

Hi Carole
Thanks again for your reply, I was thinking along the same lines.
I have found his daughter and her husband on FaceBook, so I can get in touch that way. I was just hoping to confirm the names of his family through an Obit or Death notice first.
I appreciate your help, thanks again.

www.192.com has an address in Margate which shows his wife, daughter, and son in law.  You have to buy credits to view the full address etc

His daughter married in 2000

Thanks Carole, I already have this information, just looking for info about the death registration H

Kent / Obituary ~ 2015 Nicholas BLAKE in Kent
« on: Saturday 29 February 20 23:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there

Is it possible for someone to find an Obituary or Death notice or other information, relating to a recent death in Kent, England please? I understand that being so recent, sharing this information may not be allowed, please let me know if this is the case.

I recently found this record on the GRO death index and wonder if it's my cousin, who I've lost touch with.

Name: BLAKE, NICHOLAS  BRIAN  Birth Year: 1944  GRO Reference:  DOR  Q1/2015 in Kent  (564-1V)  Entry Number 511388786

I believe he was living in Margate, Kent when I last heard from him in 2010.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
Hilary

BINGO.
May Ethel Kent 140 Gloucester Terrace .....
from
 The London Gazette
Publication date:17 November 1944 Issue:36800 Page:5303

Awesome!! Thank you so much, chempat. I had searched all of December but not started on November yet.
The search engine on the London Gazette site hadn't worked for me to find that entry, so I've been going page by page through each issue.

Well done!

Thanks JenB, for posting the link too. Very helpful

It's wonderful that you all helped to find answers for me
Thanks for everyone's input

Under the laws of England & Wales, a person has the right to call themselves anything they like ;D
Unless it's for the purposes of fraud or deception.

A Deed Poll wasn't (and isn't) necessary.

Thanks for that KGarrad

Still have the question on what "PER LON GAZ APA Date: 15/12/44" means.
If anyone knows please?
