Thank you all, yes, Rootschat notified me.
Recently making more discoveries re my grandparents via The 1901 Belfast Census, which leads me to Bombay St and Tyrone, the family have been hopping back and forward over the Irish Sea far more than I had realised.   So perhaps Agharooskey will pop up again in the near future.
Thanks again
Pete

Thanks for that Christopher,
Laughing, my own fault for not going for a flu jab.   Clearing up slowly now.   I knew it was bad when I couldn't be bothered with my daily browse through Rootschat!   :(

The Common Room / Re: North Street cemetery, Anderston, Glasgow

Bit more information from The Kent Road Primary School group on Yahoo -
North St Burial Ground was opened in 1821 and finally closed @ 1967 although discussions about the closure began in 1963.
There was a mass exhumation and all the remains were buried in Common ground at Linn cemetery.
There was one memorial transferred, that of Alexander Findlater, re-erected by Sandyford Burns Club in Section 26.
I find it strange that the name of the cemetery was just plain old North St cemetery, but there ye go.   Knowing the geography of the place, Anderson Old Church in Heddle Place must have backed onto it, shared a common boundary.

Thank you very much, Aghadowey.
A cuz has sent me images of Francis Rogan's memorials in Londonderry Cathedral, so along with your information I now have much more on the Rogans.
Grateful to you for all the interesting information on Hollidays, as you will have realised, my family have used all the different spellings, which is a burden.    I believe Hugh in Strabane had a Whitesmith shop (in Pigotts), the same trade as my ggggrandfather, from the same area.
Not fully recovered from the flu, so cutting right back on RC just now, but again, thanks for your interest and input.

Hi Jaykim
Thanks for IM.
Re my Ralstons (and Wilsons)
This is what we have re my grandmother Rebecca Wilson's birth 1873 in Philadelphia (from a cousin's gedcom) -
"her parents went to US
she was born in US
family came back to Belfast
came to Glasgow
lived in Shankhill road".
Rebecca's parents were Robert Wilson (a farmer) and Elizabeth Ralston.
That's it!  The sum total of what I know about my grandmother's parent's after years of searching,  with and without expert help.
From family hearsay we know my grandmother was born in Philadelphia, but there is a total blank until her marriage in Glasgow in 1894.   I trawl the message boards continually, I can't believe my grandmother was an only child, and I hope some day a connection will "pop up".
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Peter

The Common Room / Re: Am I just too touchy?

This topic certainly made me think!   Had I properly thanked folk who helped me on RC?
And recently I thanked someone with a quick "cheers" -  but I did thank them properly with a PM.
Then, on the other hand, a psychiatrist friend  recently pointed out to me that I had been over effusive with my thanks on one topic - seems to do so could be construed as a "control" thingy.
So there ye go - as the Americans would say .........."go figure"! ;D
