On the 1911, both Chapel House and Ivy House have a William Salisbury (+ family) as the head of household, both men are 'garden labourers' - they do appear to be different families.

So they don't have any connection with the chapel.

Thank you for your help,  I shall be looking out for further mention of the chapel as it is intriguing .....

Found this list of non conformist records in the Hive but I can't see Tibberton listed?  https://www.explorethepast.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Non_Conformist_Records_on_microfilm.pdf

perhaps it was not much more than a corrugated building in the garden trying to keep the locals out of the pubs ..... :)
I'm not sure if I have any reference books for Worcs non-conformists ...... perhaps they just had services there and had to go to Droitwich for anything that they'd register, just a thought .....

attached a snip from the 1911 summary book (error file too large).

So this has Chapel House (occupier Salisbury), then Wesleyan Chapel (unoccupied building), then Ivy House.
So the chapel must be in the garden of Chapel House.

It also has the Parish Room, which appears to be either in the garden or attached to the grocer's shop, which was on the corner of Plough Road and Foredraught Lane.

Interesting, have we solved the mystery?
But how the village hall came into the picture (ie. village), I don't know .......

Thank you for the link.

In the first section it says, 'There is a parish room, opened in 1905'.
So it might be possible to look at the 1901 census and find the Wesleyan chapel and then find the village hall on the 1911, and see if they are in the same place.......

I'll have a look ......

Thanks Kay,

I think those 'cottages' were at one time owned by the farm.

I've attached the newspaper snip, a sad story, I don't have any connection to the boy, it was the chapel mention that caught my attention.  From the 1939, it looks like Ivy House (mentioned) is joined to Chapel House.
So looking on google, it is possible that the Village Hall was originally a chapel, from the style of the older part of the building.

Can anyone confirm please?
And if you attended a children's Christmas party at the village hall in the early 1970s (1973 or 1974?), do let me know   ;)

thanks
Lisa

Worcestershire / Where was the chapel in Tibberton?

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help with this, I came across a newspaper article from the 1930s which mentioned the Chapel in Tibberton (nr Droitwich).  Does anyone know where this was, as in exactly which building it was?

I do know Tibberton (of old as it were  ;)) and according to google there is still a  Chapel House on Plough Road, I'm not sure exactly which house this is - it would be near-ish to the Bridge Inn (but the other side of the road), possibly towards the canal.

I can't think of a property that looks like a converted chapel in that area, unless of course the chapel was demolished and the gap filled with a 1930s - 1960s property.

Chapel House is listed on the 1939, I looked at a couple of earlier censuses but didn't find the Chapel.

thanks
Lisa
