"Decline" was obviously a "catch all" category covering any slow versus contagious decease before the advent of more modern diagnosis. The age range for decline was from "infant" to "old age".

Wicklow / Re: NLi Parish Registers

Purpeller, many thanks for your input.  You've touched on the essence of my query; whether the church records might have included more detail than features in the parish register.
From local English RC records I know my 3ggf (Peter O'Brien) was born to James & Ann (in Wicklow).  And Peter's wife (Mary) to James Byrne & Ellen James.  I did find their marriage and the baptisms of some Byrne children (entirely consistent with the 1861 census) with some intriguing common names as witnesses and sponsors for both families.  I'm now trying to firm up my suspicions (but that is all they are!!)

Wicklow / NLi Parish Registers

Wonder if anyone might advise.....

I think I may have found the marriage of my ggggrandfather (James BRYAN - Anne TRACY 20/2/1832) in the NLI Register for the parish of AVOCA.

The same register also features baptism records of 4 possible offspring between 1833 - 1839 (Mary, William, Jane & Peter)

Can anyone advise which churches were included in this parish register, or if there is any further line of investigation?

Regards

and within an hour of my posting, I find I'm able to view unreads...a full page waiting!  But as you say, it's difficult to imagine how I could have affected access; then again, I'm much more comfortable with a fountain pen.

wondered if anyone was suffering the same?.... for the last 4/5 days the option to "show unread posts since last visit" has failed to produce anything other than a message that there aren't any!!  For as long as I've been attached to this forum there's always been at least 2 pages per day to catch up on.  Perhaps I'm doing something wrong - could anyone please advise?

Thanks in anticipation -

Steve
