I agree, the death certificate for daughter Ellen BARFOOT could be interesting to see who the informant was.

Here you go KevKev & Maddy

Death

14 July 1898 Contractors Huts, New Midland Railway, Ardley U.D

Ellen BARFOOT age 13 years 10 months, daughter of Frederick George Barfoot (deceased) Railway Excavator (Foreman)

Informant

Emma LOMAS, Mother present at death same address

A mystery as to why she is not listed as Fanny Lomas ???

added a snippet from d/c

It is certainly a mystery. At the moment I'm inclined to going back to the idea that the Fanny (nee BEND) who is living with Frederick BARFOOT is the same person who later calls herself Emma (who marries George LOMAS).

It certainly is an intriguing mystery Maddy. Same as you I’m inclined to think that perhaps Fanny BARFOOT nee BEND is Emma LOMAS but no idea as to why she would change her name from Fanny to Emma or be using the Barfoot surname instead of Lomas in 1911.

I’ve searched 1911 census, 1921 census, 1939 register, looked for a marriage and death for a Fanny BARFOOT or BEND born c 1860 Bottesford  but nothing   ???

I keeping coming back to the Emma LOMAS from 1901 census, married to George who appears to be Emma BARFOOT on 1911 census, Fanny SMITH on 1891 census, Fanny BARFOOT on 1881c and Fanny BEND on 1871 & 1861 censuses, daughter of Samson, occ  Ag. Labourer & Ann

KevKev you posted BARFOOT/LOMAS m/c (reply 95) married on 26 July 1896, Emma widow father Samuel BEND, occ farm labourer

Quote from KevKev

“I don't have a death certificate for Ellen Barfoot but this is what I wrote down from the cemetery register about her burial:

'Ellen Barfoot 13 years 10 months buried July 17th 1898. Daughter of late F.G. Barfoot of contractors huts. Received from Anna Lomas'. I wonder who Anna Lomas was- may check into that...and why Fanny wasn't mentioned.”

Perhaps the 1898 death certificate for Ellen Barfoot might be helpful  :-\
Who was named as the informant? Was it her mother? If so, was she named Fanny or Emma?

Quote from bbart

Kevin, as to that "Anna Lomas" on the burial record for Ellen... I would think it should have said "Emma", perhaps she was misheard, or the handwriting was a bit messy.

Should Anna LOMAS be Emma LOMAS and more importantly is this Fanny Barfoot?

I can't find a birth for an Emma Bend around 1858 with father Samuel or even father Sansum.

Have I been mistaken all these years and Fanny and Emma are not sisters?

It looks like I need to do some backtracking.

Now I need to find where I originally got information that Fanny Bends father was Sansun.
I hope I did proper research all those years ago when working on Fanny's line.

I think that just about wraps up this thread, except for Alice Bell, I don't have a death for her or a potential marriage, or children.

I actually knew Alice, I used to visit with Elsie in the late 60s early 70s, she always seemed at home in Wheelock and I have a feeling she probably stayed there, where as Elsie at some point returned to Manchester as she married my grandfather in 1930, although I don't know when she returned, the 1921 census might offer up some clues though.

Do you have Alice's exact date of birth, if so, you could use that date to look for her on the 1939 register.

Elsie’s 1930 marriage her address 110 Taylorson Street, Salford, one witness was
William BELL. If available online perhaps check the Electoral Register for that address.

It looks as if Alice is with her father and sister in Salford

Can I ask whereabouts her mother died in 1907?  Only there was a Clutton death in Manchester which might link the two.  Think it was Jane but right age.

Just looked through my notes and I cant find the evidence, I'll have to do a re-trawl I think.

Not that this helps with finding the correct death entry for Mary Ann Bell

For info.

The 1911 census with Elsie & Alice Bell with their Aunt Sarah Jane Clutton
they are listed as granddaughters and daughter. If you look at the front schedule page address
14 Game Street Wheelock Sandbach name Mrs Sheckleston.
I believe she is Sarah Jane Clutton's mother

Parents of William Williams , Mother Mary {Robson Thomas ??) b.1830 S. Wales. Father John Thomas Williams[/b] believed to be born 1815 in Wales.

They had an older child John Thomas Williams possibly b.1857 d.1920 Wales

GRO indexes shows mmn if not illegimate - I can’t see a William mmn Robson there are quite a number of births with mmn Thomas born 1863. https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/login.asp
Do you have his exact date of birth?

Looking at the census record his father John has middle initial ‘P’  ???
