Worcestershire / Harry Tate's Butchers Shop
« on: Saturday 25 February 12 11:00 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone knows where (or if) I could find any records of employees/apprentices of Harry Tate. He had a  butchers shop in Cradley from the 1920's it was later taken over by Harry Mapp.

Good question!
Though how we find an answer I don't know - she was Mary when she married, Joseph baptism and her burial. I can't see any more baptisms at Old Swinford for either Mary or Ann.
Wonder if the County Express was around in 1812 maybe there was an obituary

Thanks Suzard
I'd also wondered if it was a different John except for the fact that the monumental inscription mentions Alexander Attwood his sister Susannah.

Worcestershire / Who is the first wife Ann or Mary

My 3times Great Grandfather John Attwood married Priscilla c1816 they had 5 children.
I have a copy of John's will, it includes Priscilla and her 5 offspring and also a son Thomas and the executor is a son Joseph.

I have found baptisms for two Thomas's - 1795 with parents John and Mary and 1804 with parents John and Ann. Both at Old Swinford - which would make sense as they were in the Lye area.
There is a Joseph baptised 1793 also at Old Swinford, with parents John and Mary.
There is a marriage for A John Attwood to Mary Round in 1793 but I cant find anything for an Ann.

I have been looking at Old Swinford Monumental Inscriptions and have found one which I believe to be Johns - it includes a wife Mary but neither Ann or Priscilla get a mention!

I know in the scheme of things it doesn't matter as I am descended from Priscilla but it is nice to tie up the loose ends, so if anyone has any suggestions as to who came first  Mary or Ann. Maybe he didn't marry Ann because if the gravestone is the right one Mary didn't die until 1812!!!!

Thanks both of you.
I've been helping my brother-in-law with his family tree, we have only just started on the Dunns so we are only back to 1820 and Job Dunn. Will look and see if there is a connection to the Solomon you mention Absolom

This may seem a funny question but does anyone know how Dunns Bank near Quarry Bank got its name

I am just as confused, :-)

I am not sure  who wrote the descripton or the date on the back, I think it was my aunt who wrote "uncle Alf and grandad" so I can only assume it was one of Georges children who wrote  the description and date.
His son Alf, who I have cropped off the first photo, joined up in 1918 and served in the tanks.
I  had suspected the photo was a momento of the two of them - just  in case.
Perhaps things will become clearer when more records get released, and his area of deployment confirmed.
regards
John
