Hi Peggy,

This is a different George Marsden. He'll be difficult to track down because it was a very common name (there are ten of them in my tree!).

Interestingly, when George Harry Brown married Eliza Burgess in 1920, it was witnessed by Thomas Marsden and Florence Marsden

Eliza's mother was a Marsden; Tom and Florence were her cousins.
There were many George Marsdens in Eliza's family.

I have a William Crawford born around 1798 in Duddon, Cheshire. Some of his children were registered in Over, Cheshire as Crowfoot. I'd assumed it was a spelling error.

I haven't found his birth or marriage, and don't know his father's name. Not very useful, sorry! But I was very interested to read your post.

Please could you look up the marriage of William Crawford to Elizabeth, probably in Over, around 1822?

Any other Crawfords in Over would be helpful, too.

Thank you!

Hi sfir and welcome to Rootschat,

I have checked but the marriage you are looking for doesn't appear on the indexes that I have.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help,

Jean

Thank you for looking.

I don't know where to go from here. William Crawford was rather random about his age on census returns and I don't know what Elizabeth's surname was. William was born in Duddon and Elizabeth was born in Over; in 1841 they were living in Over and their eldest child was probably born 1823-24. They had a son George, christened in Over on 6 Dec 1826. Their surname was written as Crawfort on one census and Crawfurt on another record.

It's all very interesting, though :)
