Wiltshire Lookup Requests / NOYCE - Winterslow
« on: Monday 19 January 09 22:47 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me to track where my Noyce family come from ? I know that my great, great, great grandfather, Isaac Noyce was born in Winterslow in 1805, he married Augusta Whitlock of Pitton in 1828.

His baptism is shown as " son of William and Sarah Noyes "(Noyce)  baptized 2 June 1805 in Winterslow.

I cannot be sure which William Noyes ( Noyce ) this is as there are several options. William was buried on the 10 January 1821 of Weston, Winterslow, he died aged 57. this makes his birth circa 1764.

Sarah Noyce was buried on the 21st August 1852 in Winterslow, she was aged 91 years. This would make her born circa 1761.

I have come to the conclusion, correctly or incorrectly, that Sarah is Sarah Hasket (Haskell ). The marriage on the 9th Nov 1788 would fit with the birth of Isaac, but I cannot find a baptism for Sarah in Winterslow with this surname.

The 1851 census gives a clue as Sarah Noyce, Head of the household, aged 88, a widow and a pauper is shown as being born in Winterslow. Her son Charles Noyce is shown as a widower age 51, this would make him born circa 1800.  I can find a Charles son of William and Sarah Noyce born 1795 in Winterslow.

Can anyone offer any help please ?

John
