Hi mum & deb usa

Acccording to the 1891 census swindon Charles Richings is the head; Martha is his wife aged 38 so she would have been born in 1853

I think maybe I'll have to save my pennies and send for one of the childrens birth certificates.

The death I have found is on freebmd.  It's for a Charles Richings in the Sept. qtr. of 1901 (so after the 1901 census was taken) in Swindon.

Hi everyone.

In the 1901 census for Saddleworth  Susannah Richings is down as the Head but also classed as a widow. There is a son Harry Black aged 26; a grandson Harold aged 9.  Then there is George Wormwell a widower and boarder and also Martha Wormwell  daughter aged 9.  It is the same Susannah as she was born in Fullwood, Yorkshire in 1935.
This is really a mystery I seem to be unravelling; all to find out who my great great great grandparents were and what happened to my great great grandfather Charles.

Keep digging!!

Thanks to everyone trying to help.  You can see why I am getting frustrated.

To answer some of the quesions.  According to the marriage certificate Charles was living in Hallam, Sheffield; when he got married.  So was Susannah.  Jorose mentions George Ritchings living with his grandmother Esther in the 1871 census.  George was my great grandfather.
I have found a Charles Ritchings who died in 1901 in Swindon, but I don't know if this was the same one or not.
I can only think he must have remarried but to whom and when I don't know; and I can't seem to find any answers.

I am glad everyone is still looking for me.

Hi All
The details on the marriage certificate are as follows:
Date of Marriage  5th Sept. 1853
In the parish of Sheffield, Yorkshire
Charles Richings (Rickings) 22 batchelor.  Living in Hallam, Sheffield.  He is a labourer and his father is Edward Richings (Rickings) also a labourer.
His wife is Susannah Fox Elliott also living in Hallam.  Her father was William Elliott a farmer.  I know alot about her side of the family.
The witnesses are William Fox; who I think is her uncle and his wife Ruth Thorpe.
The details on the 1861 census are for Bradfield, Sheffield.
Charles Richings Head aged 30 Excavator born in Cirencester, Glos
Susannah Richings wife aged 26  born in Fullwood, Sheffield
Joseph Richings son aged 4 months born in Bradfield, Sheffield
Ann E Richings daughter aged 2 also born in Bradfield Sheffield

I hope this may help as I am now getting frustrated.

I have my great great grandfathers name Charles Richings. I also have his marriage certificate to Susannah Elliott in Sept 1853.  According to this he was born in 1831 and his father is Edward  The certificate looks though as the name could read Rickings.  In the 1861 census he is Richings and was born in 1831 in Cirencester.  After that census there is no trace of him; his wife appears later on in Saddleworth.
This is where I need help!!  I have found a Charles Richings born in Cirencester in 1828 with a father Edward but I don't know how to confirm this as being the right one.  I can't find anymore details for a Charles born in 1831.
PLEASE  SOMEONE HELP ME.

Thanks

Thanks for that.  It could be the same one, but it doesn't explain why he is in the 1841 census as being 13; this would make him born in 1828 not 1831 as his marriage certificate indicates.   In the 1881; 91 and 1901  Charles wife Susannah then appears in Saddleworth, Yorkshire.  There is no mention of Charles at all.  He therefore could have remarried or died.  I have since found an entry for a marriage for a  Charles Richings in Cirencester in 1889.  Could this be my great great grandfather.
