Hertfordshire / Re: HAMMOND Family - Walkern
« on: Friday 29 March 13 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Is there anybody else out there researching this family?
Many thanks
Brig
Hi Brig, I am doing some research for a friend by this name. His ancestors turned up in London before 1841. The 1851 census is illegible but they were living in Shoreditch. 1861 census says William Hammond born Hertfordshire and looks like Walkern. His wife was Sarah ( maybe Smith) born c1803 and died Shorditch 1856.All his children stated on census that they were born in Bethnal Green but thats not so.
He had children Mary born c1825 dont know where, Samuel born 10/2/1834 dont know where but bapt in Shoreditch, Eliza born c1836 dont know where and Henry b 1842 Shoreditch. William was a weaver on 1841 census. Does any of this ring bells??

Looking for a Baraclough in Portobello, near Edinburgh in the 1930s. *

I have a Baraclough family tree going back to early 1600's.

Can some kind soul look up Elizabeth Baraclough, born circa 1874 Ireland, Emmigrated circa 1888,  who was probably living in Brookyn, New York. She was a widow at this time.
Also the whereabouts of her 3 sons, Samuel Arthur Baraclough born 25 Jan 1894 Brooklyn: William  E. Baraclough born 1 Nov 1895 Brooklyn; and Francis Anthony ( Frank) born 9 Feb 1897 Brooklyn.
They may have been with her or not ( long story!! )
Thanks  :)

Thanks for all your help Kath. I don't think any of those are my line . However one the the addresses you gave me came up trumps. A chap in the US phoned on for me and bingo. Her name is Dawn and she is descended from Samuel and Augusta and she confirms that she is descended from William Edward Wood Baraclough and is goind thro her files. Wayne Baraclough in Florida is also related so will wait for her reply now.
Once again thank you so much. You are a star!!

Glynis

Thanks Kath. The Stillwell bit was a slip of the keyboard. It should read Baraclough ( Stillwell is another line of mine that I am emailing others about on Genes Reunited and got myself confused) .
Can I possibly ask you to look at the passenger details. Sorry to be a pain but your info is fantasic.

You are a star. All this ties in with some info already gleaned. A chap in USA has  given me details  of  the draft William E Baraclough ( son of William E and Elizabeth) which gives what I presume is his next of kin as Frank A Baraclough working as Frank A Baraclough inc.  William was living at Green St, Philadelphia  but born Brooklyn.
The only thing that worries me slightly is that William E baraclough senior was born in Tamworth, Staffs 1867 Jun quarter but I guess that census ages can be hard to read and not always accurate.
Some time ago a lady on Genforum gave me details of a William Stillwell marr to Elizabeth Baxter whos son was Francis Anthony Baraclough born circa1897 Brooklyn. This all ties in. She said that Frank marr Anna Christiansen ( b Manhatten)  and they had 3 children Shirley Louise b Florida, Donald Francis died 1995 Cortland, NY, and Elizabeth Ann b California but gave me no dates.
On SSDI I found a Donald b 25/7/1932 d 17/3/1995 issd NY but died in Haggerstown, Washington, Maryland.
Also Frank A  b9/2/1897 d Nov 1964 issd  NY and various addresses in Cortland, NY.
Also William Baraclough b 1/11/1895 d Aug 1969 issd PA but death residences various addresses Cortland.
If Frank is a brother of William E and both are son's of William senior I am wondering why Frank is not on 1900 census.
