Thank you! That is her. Hopefully I can find the other Strokestown records I want under Roscommon.

Harry Walter Fielding was born 9 Apr 1913 in Rockford, Illinois but grew up in Detroit. He wasn't married for his 1942 military record. At some point he did marry a widow with children but they may also have had children together or he could have had some by a previous marriage. Obituary would be ideal. He died 11 Jan 1996 in Gray County, Texas.

I still can't trace the Family of Thomas Fielding and Elizabeth Jane Hamill. Son William born 11 Oct 1882 and son registered without a name born 12 Apr 1885.

Thomas Fielding of Drumgose had his known children between around 1808 and 1828. The only son I'm aware of having issue was Simon who was married twice. He lived in Cavan, Killyman which was where his first wife was from but he died in Drumgose.

He had a son Thomas who had sons who died young but remarried in 1880 to Elizabeth Hamill and then went to New Jersey. I found birth records for two sons (1882 & 1885) but can't account for the family.

Simon also had a son William who married Rachel Davidson in 1870. He lived in Drumgose at the time of his marriage but they must have emigrated soon after because they had a daughter Emily in Chicago in 1871. They also lived in Ontario before settling in the Detroit area. He had 4 sons who all had issue but I can only find a record of one grandson among those and I don't know if he had any children. His name was Harry Walter Fielding (1913 - 1996).

I have researched the Drumgose Fielding family. I'll see if I can trace them forward a bit further.

I have male descendants unaccounted for that I might be able to trace.

Have you researched the close neighbours in Simcoe? It was extremely common to settle close to friends and relatives from back home. I've had major breakthroughs with that research strategy before.

Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and can't celebrate with family due to Covid but I was able to binge on new records instead of food!

A good portion of my new leads come from scanning the informant column on whole pages rather than just from the record I looked up. You just can't find those when you order individual records. And I sometimes find people were killed in disease outbreaks or in multi-casualty accidents which is also interesting.

But I'm stumped when I turn to research my family from Roscommon. It's showing me zero death records for the Strokestown district 1871-1877. Were they on this site before in index form? I can't remember. I'm looking for Mary McHale who died in 1872 and it's not coming up searching with no district either.

Tyrone / Re: George Dickson's parents

One of Joseph Alexander Dickson & Lydia Ann Simpson's children married into my extended family so I have the basics but I know there are a couple excellent researchers in New Zealand which was the major destination for the Carrowcolman Dicksons and associated families.

Joseph Alexander Dickson's parents were George Dickson & Ruth Orr which is positively confirmed with his baptism at Eglish Presbyterian Church and other records. George & Ruth show in the Armagh Diocese marriage bond index in 1842.

That record showing Dickson Orr as brother in law confirms Ruth's father as William Orr and both Dickson and his sister Mary have Lisnacroy as residence at time of marriage.

George Dickson was the informant for his mother Mary's death in 1870. George had a brother Richard to went to New Zealand and I've been told records there show parents as Richard Dickson & Mary Douglas. I haven't confirmed those myself. At least 3 of George and Ruth's children went to NZ as did many other relatives and connected people.

Armagh / Re: Wilson - Derrylee

I believe the name Elijah was very rare in the immediate area so it's a lead worth pursuing. It's unfortunate that Jackson around there was probably even more common than Wilson though!

Derrylee is about out of my general research zone which is centred around Benburb but I have lots of twigs sticking out and sometimes I start to see patterns and connections and fill in more branches.

I first had this family in my database because their daughter Mary married into a Beattie/Beatty family I'm interested in. I have a special research interest in early Methodists.

What are the names and spouses and any immigration destinations of the family? I might spot more clues or at least be on the lookout.

I haven't researched this family but have twigs of it in my database. I took a look for any clues I might have and propose John Jackson and Elizabeth Thompson of Derrylee as hypothetical parents for Mary.

They were the right age and location and had a son named Elijah which I don't think was common among other Wilson families in the area? That is not nearly enough evidence but you might find more if you explore this hypothesis.

Elizabeth Thompson Jackson died 23 Apr 1858 age 81 and her husband predeceased her. Known children:
Elizabeth - unknown dates, married John McVeigh in 1826. Daughter Elizabeth McVeigh was living at Derrylee when she married Robert Verner.
Robert - c. 1813 - 1 May 1869, stayed at Derrylee, married Martha Palmer at Clogher.
Elijah - c. 1822 - 22 Jul 1910, married Martha's sister Letitia and moved to the home Letitia inherited from her first husband near Fivemiletown but later died at Derrylee.

Family had strong Methodist links but records should also be at Milltown Church. Again, I haven't actually researched this family but have these twigs.

I have some of this family in my database. William Carrick was married to Letitia Twinem and they lived in Drumconor. I think they were both originally from the Portadown area where those names were common. Charles Carrick's wife was probably a cousin. Their son William John married his first cousin on the Carrick side. Is there something you're looking to figure out?
