You said you were looking for details of a Sarah Hutchins born Piddington Northants in 1804. My great great grandfather was a Benjamin Hutchins born in Hackleton, a stone's throw from Piddington, in 1806. They could have been brother and sister. Benjamin married a Susannah Tate b 1808 in Piddington and they had 9 children that I know of. George my great grandfather was the youngest and was born in 1850. He worked in the shoe making industry and moved to Leicester to get work. He married there and my grandfather and his 4 sisters were born in Leicester. Does this help you much?

Does anyone out there have a connection to this large family? Parents Thomas and Lizzie Ann and 9 surviving children out of 14. All of them dead now but there must be some other children or grandchildren of those 9 out there. My grandmother was one of them. Thomas was a farm laborer and they moved in the early days to where he could get work. Would be really interested to hear from anyone who has info on this. Thanks.

Many thanks for your reply. I suppose we will just have to be content with the fact that they had done wrong and were sent there as punishment. The neice of this inmate has told me that he went on to marry and have a family so I expect it didn't do him that much harm being in there. Best wishes on your research.

I have also found a relation in the 1911 census who was at this school. Did you find anything out at the archives? Looked the school up on google and it led me to your question on this web site. I joined the site as it will be a useful thing to query research problems and thought I would contact you to see if you have got anywhere with your research.
