George Baker  (Ethel's first husband) must have died before 7/12/1918, the date Ethel married John Reg as she is listed as a widow on their marriage cert.

Ethel May Evans marr George Henry Baker 7/1/1912 Bethnal Green

Ethel May Evans marr John R Hunter 7/12/1918 West Ham Essex

I have both certificates if anyone is interested.
I have no death for George Baker. Perhaps he was killed in WW1?

Buckinghamshire / Re: Turville Parish Registers

Paula & Jill,
Thanks for your helpful replies.
My contact finally got back to me and I now know that the cd is the Phillimores Bucks marriages from S&N.
I was actually hoping to find early baptisms and burials also but I suspect that it may not be possible as the Bucks local studies centre at Aylesbury do not have these records so perhaps they no longer exist.
I have looked into buying a cd from BucksFHS but they do not have one for my most important Bucks parishes ie Hambleden & Turville.
I am able to get to Aylesbury reasonably easily in a day and have been there perhaps 8 times now .
Thanks

Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a cd of the PRs for Turville, does anyone know where I can get a copy?
A few months ago I was in contact with someone on Genes who mentioned that his info came from a Turville PRs cd. I have tried to contact this person but have had no reply.
Thanks  --  Peter E

Thanks for the help folks.

Bren, - That could well be one of the two sons. Thanks that may!! suggest a birth date of around 1920.

alamar - That could be them. The infant could be the other son Jack. I shall look for their births over here. However I could not find a marriage from 1913 to 1930. Thanks for your help.

Hi all,
Can anyone help with the births of two brothers Jack Reginald Hunter and George Henry Edgar Hunter born probably Auckland area 1920 - 1930.
Their parents were John Reginald Hunter & Ethel May nee Evans.
This info may help me to find the marriage date & place of John & Ethel. I cannot find the marriage in England so maybe it was in NZ.
I am in England so NZ lookups are not possible for me.
many thanks

Technical Help / Re: Suitable Graphics Card
« on: Thursday 17 March 05 21:59 GMT (UK)  »
Victoria,
I have two old computers - about 1998/99.
Both of these have motherboards that have AGP slots for a graphics card. Unless your computer is even older than mine I would be surprised if it did not support AGP. Computers with AGP slots also have PCI slots but the AGP slot is the best for a graphics card. If your computer is very very new then the latest graphics card is PCI Express.
I should speak to Dell to find out whether you have an AGP slot or even easier take off the computer cover (I presume it is a desktop) and look at the motherboard. There will be 3 or 4 white PCI slots and if there is AGP it will be one brown slot alongside the PCI slots.

Hope this helps

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Emigrating from England to NZ

Melanie,
Thank you for your efforts.
I have some pictures of "aunt Rose & Jack" which could be taken in NZ dated 1967.
I have another picture of Aunt Rose taken in 1969 in Kenton or Kinton. Is there such a place in NZ?
There is a Kenton in Greater London but that would mean that Rose had returned to the UK.    ??? ???

Melanie,
I have had a thought about the rumour of a family member emigrating to NZ.
Rose had a twin sister Violet May. If nothing can be found of Rose and Christian emigrating then I wonder if the rumour related to the other twin eg Violet and got mixed up in time?
Violet married Charles Daniel Avent (born c/1890 London) in London in 1910. They had 11 children all born in London. Charles 1911, George 1912, Bertha 1914, Violet 1915, Henry 1917, Jack 1920, Rose 1921, Christopher 1923, Richard 1924, William 1927 and Margaret 1932. Therefore they would have to have emigrated after 1932.

Thank you so much for your help.

Regards   ---   Peter
