Essex Lookup Requests / Look up Request for William George Foster.
« on: Sunday 30 April 17 01:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello from NZ. I am helping an 85 yr old friend discover his family tree. He grew up in an orphanage in Romford from 1940, after his father died of a heart attack and his mother was unwell after being bombed out in the Peabody Buildings in London. We have just discovered the birth of a previously  unknown older brother, William George Foster, on 1st November 1929.  Stanley has no memory of this brother, and his mother never mentioned him when Stanley met with her 29 years after their separation. We have presumed he died as an infant or child but have not located a Death entry for him anywhere in Essex, or in London where his Grandparent's lived. His mother's family have been easy to trace with the unusual surname Whan. Stanley and William George's father was also William George Foster. He died in 1938, age 38 years. I have used FreeBMD, GRO indexes and FMPast websites, also Ancestry.

Is anyone able to look up a possible burial for William George Foster (junior) b1929 as above? He was born at Old Church Hospital, his parents lived at Ingreway, Hornchurch/ Harold Park. Stanley thinks he would have remembered him if he was still alive around 1936.

Stanley would really like to know what happened to William George now he has discovered this sibling. Any help or advice will be gratefully received. Thanks for reading.  :) :)

:) Thank you for this advice and email address. I have previously paid for a search in Pennsylvania but I don't think it was for Roman Catholic Registers I will try this.
Thanks again ;)

:) Thank you for refining my research. I did not notice the abbreviation of Margaret. I have come across shortened abbreviations before but I really thought this was Mary or even May.

Margaret is not a repeated name from our tree, so I am a little more hesitant that this is the correct family. :D :D Thank you again.

:D Thank you, I know I need to find that marriage to be sure. There is a Patrick Doran baptized in April 1844 (2 years earlier) in the Clonroche area film record you put me onto. The names of James and Mary fit. I will go through the whole record from 1813 and search for all the Dorans anyway.  Thanks I have made some possible proress.

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Marriage for Elizabeth Woodhouse and John Patrick Doran

Hello from New Zealand. :D I have been stuck on the above marriage for several years. Elizabeth born in Kings Lynn, and her husband Clonroche, Wexford, Ireland. Searches for the brides parish only reveal her cousins' marriage in 1866, Norfolk.
Their first definite child is Mary Ann and census entry gives Pittsburg, Pennsylvania as place of birth.

Family story has it that John (sometimes Patrick or James) met at the "big house in London". John a gardener and Elizabeth a servant. They went to America but didn't stay, re emigrating to Manchester, where John became a Policeman. Some Pennsylvania research found no Marriage or a birth for Mary Ann.

If they travelled to America surely it would have been as a married couple and not as Singles? Therefore marrying in England before travelling. I have also researched Irish records as John was a Catholic who states 'Married' on his Police Employment Records.

I have also researched IGI and have used spelling variants such as Wodehouse. I am really stuck and would appreciate a fresh objective opinion. Thank you for reading.

Thank you. I enjoyed looking but had no luck either,  just a Mary Meaghan Doran born to a James and Betty of Clonroche :D. James and Elizabeth are both repeated family names. At least I found Dorans on a Clonroche related register. Thanks again! :D
