The stone no doubt was erected by a member of the family (tree on Family Search) and some 10 years after the Helen deaths.   My money is on Kristyahn.

George with daughter Margaret in 1851 census Prestonhaugh.

A number of years have passed with the interesting bit that one of the Sherriff descendants a Dr.
Hector Diego Furlong Sherriff (Spanish/Argentine naming system) 1933-2014 has an auditorium named after him in Bahia Blanca (Law school) and obviously quite a character.     His widow, a politician (lawyer) of some repute,  ran for Mayor of Bahia Blanca 2023 .    Hector was from the Sherriff/Vandepeear connection.

My Spanish is still relying on Google with local grandchildren and great nieces to find.

Midlothian / Re: Parents of William McDonald

First small point is that I think the birth place should be Black Bull Close (Pleasance).   Perhaps a typo but there was no Blackbill as listed in Stuart Harris's book "The Place Names of Edinburgh".

There was a death 31st January 1856 of a Hugh McDonald (Widower), 68 Grassmarket, Edinburgh, aged 70.   Parents both unknown and advised by William McDonald, son.    Buried at West Church yard.

The address no longer exists   Site is the High Court Of Justiciary built in 1937 as the new Sheriff Court.
