Thanks for that! I haven't seen that before. One of my ancestors is on there!

Hi Laurel,

I spent a considerable amount of time searching but was unable to come up with anything concrete. Gave up in frustration and diverted to another side of my family. When I get time I will revisit the chase! The problem was that there were many similar names but no way of differentiating due to lack of evidence.

Cheers

Hi I wonder if any one could help me track down the baptism for Martin Mensforth/Mansforth(or similar derivatives). He was born c1730 and married Ann Suddick in 1753 Wolsingham.

Many thanks,

Sandra

Hi Sandra,

Did you have any luck with this?

Definitely endocarditis.

Says he has a "soft systolic murmur" which is the sound produced when the heart beats and is a fuzzy sort of sound that is not normal.

Endocarditis would have been a life threatening illness in those circumstances.

No goldfields in Aus in 1845. Small finds but the government hushed them up. It wasn't until Hargreaves claimed to discover gold in early 1851 that the rushes started in NSW.

Bendigo was just a little later as Cando says. The rush at Bendigo was in full swing with 20000 diggers on the field by January 1852 from 800 in December 1851.

Hard to say. He died of a brain haemorrhage associated with hardening of his arteries and high blood pressure. This is not an unusual cause of death.

Without knowing more about his particular medical history all would be just speculation.
