One Name Studies: H to M / Re: McLarty family Ayrshire, Scotland

Hello
I am not a McLarty but trying to find what happened to a Malcolm McLarty, born c 1823 in Ayr who emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand in 1842.  I have found some references to a Duncan McLarty who lived in the Waikato area but he was clearly a different and younger man, born c1839.  Cannot find any information about Malcolm.  Does anyone know where he went or what became of him?
Would really appreciate any information

Thank you!

Could Hannah be Joanna?  I found this online:

I am descended from a Bartholomew and Joanna Maloney - also from Cork - apparently a different couple who finished up in Portsmouth

Hello everyone

I am descended from Richard Brock's twin sister Adelaide.  She was working as a servant to the Holmes family in Manningham, Bradford in 1861 and married there in 1865.  Since Richard married at North Lopham in 1866 I assume that he followed her to Bradford.

I agree that he probably left for economic/work reasons.  A book called 'A History of The Lophams' by Michael Friend Serpell refers to others leaving for such reasons.

In 1881 Richard was working as a labourer in a velvet mill so I am also guessing that he got a job at Listers mill as Adelaide's son, John Dunn, was a velvet plush finisher there.
In 1891 Richard was a mason's labourer of 87 Chassum Street so he may, like his nephew, have lost his job at the Manningham mills due to the strike of 1890-91.

Hi

I can't really help but you might like to know that my g-g-g-grandfather James Dunn was married to a Judith Meany.  They lived in Mullinahone, Tipperary, and had at least 6 children that I know of, baptised there between 1834 & 1846.  I have no further information about Judith or her family.

best wishes

Hi Debra

Thanks for responding and for the offer of help.

Is your George the one born 1799, the son of William Palfreyman & Margaret Pybus?   He is the brother of 'my' William.

I only joined Roots Chat yesterday after picking this thread up through Google but am having a lot of trouble figuring out how it works!
I received a reply by 'personal message' from Rainbow 1 but cannot figure out how to reply to that.  The only buttons are 'Delete' or 'Reload'.  The 'Help' button did not help!
If you see this, Rainbow 1, my apologies.

Meanwhile, Debra, would love to confirm where your George fits in.

PS I am in NZ so not so far away from you I gather?

best wishes

I am descended from Michael Palfreyman/Palframan the hatter from Pontefract who was born about 1758 and married Ann Faux.
My line comes down through his son and grandson (both Williams) to great-g-daughter Elizabeth who finished up in Bradford.

Any connections??
