William Middlemist
Service Date: 1878-1880
Service Place: Afghanistan
Campaign or Service: Second Afghan War
Regiment or Unit Name: 2nd Battalion The Gordon Highlanders
Regimental Number: 1178

Where may I find other information regarding William, and would it be possible that some where there may be of photo of him.

1. Thomas CHALMERS was born 18 Oct 1799 in Currie and died 26 Jul 1872 in Bathgate. He married Margaret Smith 1822 in Edinburgh. She was born 1798 in Livingstone and died 27 Nov 1881 in Bathgate, daughter of Hume Smith and Isabel Walker.
 
Children of Thomas CHALMERS and Margaret Smith:
     i.        2.        Isabel Chalmers was born 14 Jan 1825 in Mid Calder and died 1874 in St Giles Edinburgh
     ii.        3.        Thomas Chalmers was born 19 Nov 1826 in Mid Calder and died 03 Jan 1878 in Bathgate
     iii.        4.        Janet Chalmers was born 11 Oct 1829 in Mid Calder and died 24 May 1915 in West Calder
     iv.        5.        John Chalmers was born 04 Apr 1833
     v.        6.        Hume Smith Chalmers was born 14 Mar 1836 in Shotts and died 04 Nov 1907 in Greenock
     vi.        7.        Margaret Chalmers was born 04 Aug 1839 in Whitburn and died 16 Aug 1899 in Linlithgow

I wonder when Agnes left Scotland, could possibly have been after her mother died which is somewhere between Elizabeth's Marriage to a John Paton in 1885 Bridgeton as mother is not marked as deceased and before her father dying in 1900 Dennistoun.

Thank you, that's what I thought, so I am unsure of the 1891 Census for John Jackson.


The death for Agnes has thrown up more issues, I don't seem to be able to find a marriage for Agnes and Robert, or indeed a death for Robert Wilson McLean. ::)
