Hello Andrew

Charles Juckes (1755-1803) was the son of Thomas Juckes of Longdon on Tern (1720-1769) and Dorothy nee Dixon (1722-1799).  I think the family farmed at Tern Farm.  Charles's eldest brother was "of Tern".  Charles took on the tenancy of Cotwall Farm just outside High Ercall and the tenancy was passed down from father to son through a number of generations.  Thomas was the son of Thomas (b. abt 1699) and Elizabeth.  I'll send you a private message as well.

Thank you very much indeed  :D
It is interesting that these are all Nusser marriages and not Nurser.
I am also interested to see that a Thomas Nusser married a Martha, although this is too early to be the same as the Thomas Nurser on the 1841 and 1851 census records.  Thomas Nurser married a Martha but he was born around 1774.
If it isn't too much trouble, I would be most grateful if you could check to see if there are any births for Nursers or Nussers around 1765-1775 in Wardington?
Do you know where the Wardington parish registers are held so I can research this further?
Thank you so much for your help.

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Nurser born Wardington

If anybody has access to the Wardington parish records I would be grateful please if you would check out the baptism of Thomas Nurser around 1774.  I also think there was a William Nusser baptised about 1740, who married Hannah James in Wardington 12 April 1768.  Nusser may be a transcription error for Nurser.  I will be grateful for any information available.

Thank you very much in advance.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: searching wright family
« on: Saturday 08 January 11 19:21 GMT (UK)  »
Tony

I have information about Harriet Hobson, born 1815 Ardwick le Street in South Yorkshire, who married Charles Wright born 1791.   Charles had two daughters - Mary Elizabeth and Ann Wright from an earlier marriage.  Charles and Harriet had three children Harriet, Charles and George.   Charles had a brother called George  Wright (b 1795) who was a farmer of 250 acres at Park Lane Hall, Hatfield, Thorne, Yorkshire.

I am not sure if there is any connection, but if you can find one between your Wrights and my Wrights we may also find a connection between Sarah Hobson and Harriet Hobson.  Sorry, but I have very limited Wright information.

Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / Re: George Hundleby born 1789 Crawley

Hello John - it's good to hear from you.  Do you have any ideas at all why your aunt had this newspaper cutting?

With help from Corinne and others we are collecting lots of information about George but his parents still remain a complete mystery.   I can let you have more information if you send me an IM.

I am guessing that George's mother was the Hundleby and his biological father was very wealthy and supported George with his career without being able to marry his mother.

I have been searching the Pitter family name to try and find a likely candidate without success.

George names his "mother" in his will as Mrs Houghton.  Corinne has identified a Henrietta Diddams who married Henry Houghton 11 Sept 1791 in Weeke near Winchester. I have confirmed the Henrietta connection on the subsequent census records and I am certain this is the correct marriage record.  I have also traced all his half siblings on the census records but this still hasn't shed any light on who George's parents were.  Henrietta was Henry's second wife according to the IGI.  We haven't yet identified who Henry's first wife was - could she have been George's real mother (Jenny Hundleby)?

If anybody has access to the Hampshire records and is able to identify Henry's first wife it would be great to hear from you.  I think Henry Houghton was born about 1766.

Thank you, Peter.  The Great Bolas property information is very interesting.  :)  Do you know which land was granted to Thomas in Great Bolas?  I had this Thomas and his son Thomas marked down as "of Longdon on Tern".   Do you know anything else about Thomas and his family line, please?
