Mayo / John Coughter circa 1835
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 10:50 GMT (UK)  »
There is a military record for a John Coughter given as born in Myrick(?),Mayo circa 1835.He attested in Mold,Flintshire,North Wales in 1857 and he may be synonymous with the John Cochter on the 1851 census, who along with his siblings James,Thomas and Richard are listed as sons-in-law to Patrick Farriel resident in St Asaph,Flintshire.
If so this implies a male Coughter/female marriage.Does anyone know where I would best look for evidence of such a marriage, presumably early 1830s?Circumstantial evidence suggests there may be a Farrell link with Roscommon or Sligo and it is the Farrell connection I am particularly interested iin.

HO 107 2506 265 13

2.The family of Francis Farrell, married in 1854 and resident in Bangor,Caernarvonshire in 1861 and subsequently

Dublin / 80 haddington road - 1878
« on: Thursday 08 December 11 10:53 GMT (UK)  »
An Emily Frances Jones was registered as born at 80 Haddington Road in February 1878.Does anyone have information on the occupancy and or use of this address around this time?
The mother's maiden name was Adelaide Mary Ferrall(or Ferrell or Farrell). If there are any links to this family/name it would be especially useful.

On a slightly different point is there any way of telling which couples are paired in the pages of the Ireland Civil Registration Marriage Index?

Isle of Man / Lydia Vick(?)/Quirk(?)
« on: Wednesday 09 November 11 00:25 GMT (UK)  »
In the 1891 census  -   RG12/3269/64  - Manchester

A Lydia Vick(?)/Quirk(?),single,21,mantle saleswoman, from the Isle of Man,is described as "cousin" in the household of

David Rayment Jones,45,draper,born Abergele North Wales and his wife
Adelaide Jones, born Sligo Ireland(Sligo does not appear in other cenus data)
Adelaide's maiden name was Ferrell or Farrell, but I cannot find any record of a marriage or her family origins.

Can anybody shed any light on the origins of the relationship between Lydia Vick(?) and this family?

Ireland / Adelaide Mary Farrell(or Ferrell) born circa 1850
« on: Tuesday 30 August 11 19:28 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help with the early history(parents, birth, siblings, marriage) of Adelaide Mary Farrell or Ferrell.                                                                           I currently first find her in an 1871 census in a draper's in Liverpool, only identified as"Miss Farrell" along with a David Jones(David Raymond Jones or David Rayment Jones) of Abergele,North Wales, whom she presumably marries and certainly has a family with. Her birth circa 1850 is given variously as Ireland or Dublin Ireland or even Ireland,Sligo.
They have a number of children, but one-Emily Frances-is born in Dublin on 26/2/1878.                                                                                                     She may be connected to the Farrells of Caellepa,Bangor,North Wales.

Caernarvonshire / 1901 census address Penrhyn
« on: Wednesday 17 August 11 16:44 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone find or suggest an equivalent in the 1901 census for an address given on a 1902 Conway marriage certificate:-

14 Lower Penrhyn,Penrhyn

(I assume this is a Llandrillo yn Rhos address)?

I would prefer a view based on the address alone.I have my own idea but I would like an independent view.

Denbighshire / non conformist marriage ruthin/llanfair dc 1830s?
« on: Saturday 30 July 11 18:40 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone find a record of a marriage between Mariah Jones(also her maiden name) of Llanfair parish and William Jones of Talybidwal/Bryneglwys parish in the 1830s?.Their son,William Jones,is recorded in the Blackwell index (copyright Clwyd Family History Society)as being born on 27/06/1837 and baptised in the Pendref Independent Chapel,Well St. Ruthin on 24/07/1837.I assume this implies a non conformist wedding also.
