Hi,

I'm looking for info on my Great Aunt, Eva MUNFORD (nee Balls) b1910 Gt Yarmouth UK and her son Edit - living.

She emigrated form Gt Yarmouth UK in 1948 on SS Ranchi bound for Sydney after her husband Geo Thos Munford was killed in WW2.  She was listed as a farm worker on leaving UK and I think she may have lived in Coledale NSW and died in 1989.

I think she may have also got remarried to a James Herbert LUMMIS, but can't be certain.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

David

Trish....Thanks for that.  It's given me a few clues, as I've seen some of the names mentioned and not thought much of it.

I'll try and link them all together.

So I guess that would not give me much chance of finding him then?

Hi....I'm looking for the father of George Balls baptised 1799 in Gissing, Norfolk.  I found his baptism record in Archdeacons Transcripts and his mother is listed as Elizabeth Balls, but no father is listed.

I'm puzzled as to why he wouldn't be listed.  Also, I can't find any record of Elizabeth being married.

Hi Julie, thanks for your reply.  No, my GGMother didn't have a son called Frank (not that I know of).

Regards

Hello

I resemble that remark.   I am descended from Balls fishing family of Great Yarmouth.   I have researched them back to late 18th century.

Hi YH757....Are we related???  I ask because as well as Balls, I see that you are also researching Liversidge in Sheffield.  My G Grandma was a Ledger who married a Liversidge.

When I checked the 1911 index, I found a Samuel Balls aged 36 living in Yarmouth so assumed that was him

However - when I use the cross referencing formula - it does not show a Florence in the same household so it may well be a different Samuel

It is a different Samuel, he is living with his father, also Samuel.  My man's father was Thomas, he was a fisherman and died sometime between Edgar's conception and birth registration, 1875 or 6, no trace of his death either.

He appears to have enlisted in the Royal  Artillery as Samuel. Reg. No.  3280, in 1905, he survived the war, his Army records are on Ancestry.

Sorry, I after reading through all the records,it looks as if this may be a different man after all

Jebber

Yes, that Samuel Balls was born in abt 1881.  The five is an eight, making the year he enlisted 1908 and he was 27, making his birth year 1881.  Also next of kin is listed as his father Samuel, my man's father was Thomas.  He's sooooo frustrating.

Cheers David
