Fife / James Anderson and Barbara Robertson
« on: Wednesday 21 February 18 06:05 GMT (UK)  »
According to Family Search, J & B had a son called John Anderson 20.3.1836 born in Kinghorn.  (John married Jane Miller in 1861 and they emigrated to Australia possibly early 1890s, and both dec'd in Liverpool Aust by 1913).  I am seeking assistance with more information on his parents. Unfortunately I also do not know if John had siblings, which would perhaps help identify them on a census.   Thank you.

Can anyone either confirm or expand on the UK life of Elizabeth & Thomas please?

Lancashire / John Holland and Hannah Lomas
« on: Friday 03 February 17 08:02 GMT (UK)  »
These couple married in Manchester on 1843.   1851 Manchester Census states John (born Cheshire) 26, Hannah (born Manchester) 22, children William,8, & John,3.  1861 Census says John 43, Hannah 32, William 17, John 13, Robert, Hannah, Jane, James & Elizabeth.   John's age vastly differs.   Does anyone think all 3 are the same family - I have nothing else to go on, and I am trying to backtrack from the William born c.1843.  Thank you

Australia / Guinney or Guirney or Guinnery
« on: Thursday 05 March 15 08:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all, I have bdm index stating Sinnon Guinney married Elizabeth Burns in Paddington in 1893.  Children: 1894 Elizabeth M Guinnery. 1896 Florence Guinney. 1898 Catherine F Guinney.  1902 Vera A Guinney. 1910 anor daughter Kathleen died.  Sinnon is spelt Simon for most of those births in Waverley & Balmain.  22/2/1949 Elizabeth Mary Guirney died and SMH notice states "relict of late Sinon J Guirney". When Vera married in 1931 the newspaper referred only to "Mrs E Guirney".   My ? is where did Sinnon/Sinon/Simon come from and die?  Any ideas would be appreciated.  I have checked & no war record, unless strange surname spelling.   Thank you.

Would someone be able to tell me anything about Walter Hugh Bake born Scotland c.1858.  The 1871 census lists Walter Bake aged 13 in Old Machar district.  I believe his parents were Walter Hugh and Christina, and he married Mary Hannah (?) with a son (Francis Walter Henry) an infant in 1884 when they arrived in Australia.  Thank you :)

Australia / Smith family of Forbes
« on: Saturday 28 September 13 21:24 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone researched Edward (Joseph) Smith and Eleanor (May) Smith (nee Steele)?  Eleanor was Irish Catholic, and her obituary was published on 12/4/1902.   Edward died 1888 and apparently their gravestones may still be visible.  They had a large family born mainly around Picton.   Thank you.

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Buckinghamshire and Pedder surname
« on: Tuesday 23 July 13 11:43 BST (UK)  »
In 1851 census Maria Pedder is shown as living with her grandmother, Sarah Pedder, head, widow, aged 71 at 44 High Street Parish of Great Missenden (aged 18).  Her parents may have been William and Mary Ann but I have no proof.  Can anyone able to shed more light on Maria's ancestors please.  Thankyou Jalrose
