Hi Linda

From the notes I have the record of Lukes birth 1744 shows just that he was the son of John Fairclough and his wife. The only marriage so far I have at the right time etc is the IGI listing of John & Margaret as this also matched Williams birth who married my Bellion line.

I cannot get to the LRO until the new year and so if this is still outstanding then I shall check the records of Aughton for you.

Hi
I have some of the Halsall records on Microfiche but I also spent two days at the LRO recording some of them (most from 1745 - 1780)
As Fairclough was in my line whenever I came across them I made a note especially as they married into a couple of my family lines.
The family I have for Luke babtised at Halsall are as follows:

04/11/1764   John   Fairclough
11/09/1774   William   Fairclough
27/04/1777   James   Fairclough
10/10/1779   Luke   Fairclough
21/07/1782   Luke   Fairclough
22/10/1786   Richard   Fairclough

Because of the gap between the first born I think perhaps there was either a second marriage or they were baptised somewhere else. I have other records from the area so will check those for you.

Best wishes
Lorrie

Hi Swannie

There is a listing on IGI for John Fairclough & Margaret King who marry in Aughton in 1736. They have several children the first William being born in 1737 (he married Ann Bellion daughter of Peter Bellion) some of the Bellion family are in my family tree. As such I have a listing for Luke but not yet confirmed his details.

The only sure way is to check the Aughton Parish registers but as yet the years needed are not on line. I have several of the Halsall parish registers which show Lukes family so it looks like he moved there when he married.

Hi,
From what you say I would suggest that the Aughton one is more likely (father John) as Luke snr names his first son John in 1764.
As Luke marries in 1763 this would make the other too young?

If not could anybody tell me where I would likely find the rolls for west ham for the period 1890ish

Hi Deb

Thanks so much for trying to help I have spent hours on this one!

On his marriage certificate to Harriet Hitchcock in October 1890 the witnesses were Edwin Hitchcock & Ada Minnie Hitchcock.
They married in St Lukes Church in the Parish of St Luke Victoria Dock in the County of West Ham.

I got his fathers name from the marriage certificate as I had no clues at all as to his parents identity it doesnt say Joshua was deceased and gives his occupation as General Labourer.

I am now stuck as I cant find either a marriage for Joshua or a birth for Ernest to order a certificate.
When i received the marriage cert I was delighted as I thougth Joshua would be an easy one!
Soooooo wrong ::)

I just dont know where to go next. Are there any electoral rolls available for the area of that time that I could check who was at the address he gave on his marrriage cert??

Any help or suggestions would be wonderful :)
Lorrie
