Hi , anyone looking at Drabbles and BUTTERWORTHS from Ashton Under Lyne? My Mums step Grandfather was James william Drabble born in 1881 in Cryers Buildings,Littlemoss.Ashton Under Lyne, he was the son of James Drabble(born 1836 in DUKINFIELD and Jane E Drabble nee Walker (born in STOCKPORT, CHESHIREin 1839).and brother of George F drabble born 1886 and John Drabble born 1873(from the 1881 census). James William married Bertha Powell in 1905 .They had at least one daughter ( My mum met her once but cannot remember her name ) she married and had 3 children Roy ,Carol and David(do not know there surname)they lived in CHELTENHAM.Bertha Powell died in 1922 aged 39. James William Remarried in 1931 to my Great grandmother Miriam Butterworth (born in 1892 in Pitt street Ashton Under Lyne ,Daughter of Albert Butterworth ( born in 1853 )and Alice Ann Butterworth nee Broadley( born 1851).Miriam was 1 of 9 Children.1. James willie Butterworth b1874,2. Florence Butterworth b1875 ,(she married Alfred Walton and had 6 children willie, Clara, Minnie ,Alice ,James and Eva) 3.Alfred Butterworth,4.Fred Butterworth , 5.Sam Butterworth, 6.Mary Butterworth (born 1884 and known as Polly ,she married someone with the surname Garside or Gartside and had a daughter Edith). 7.Agnes Butterworth (she married George Gordon)and 8 .Eva Butterworth.Miriam had a son in 1915 born in Hill street ,Ashton Under Lyne (out of wedlock) his name was Eric Butterworth he married Edith HIBBERSON (Born in 1899 in AUDENSHAW) they had 1 daughter Edith Butterworth born in 1938 ( my mum) . They lived in 4 ROWLEY street ,DUKINFIELD until my Grandmother died in 1939(aged 39) and my mums Gran(Miriam) looked after her (they Lived In 116 and later 126 BROOKE STREET ,ASHTON UNDER LYNE ). My Grandfather Eric remarried in 1942 and on his marriage certificate his Fathers name appears for the first time as Jonathan Butterworth(deceased) . According to Erics mother Miriam he died in ww1 and buried in Flanders but I don't know how to proove that when I only have a name (any suggestions appreciated!!!).
