World War One / WW1 - Navy Look up - Bramwell
« on: Saturday 15 December 07 23:57 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any information on who this guy could be, I think his name is John Walker Bramwell b. 1880 in Ayr, Scotland or it is his brother George Edward Bramwell b. 1889 in Ayr, Scotland.  I think the woman is his mother.

Anyone have any records to search to see if any of the above names match any records?

Thanks

Thank you very much for your replies.  I have posted the picture in the restorations board to see what it would be like in colour.

I have two photos of my ancestors house and of a relative on board a steamship in 1913.  All have faded.  Is it possible to clean and colour these?

I have a photo of a relative with a man in the navy.  I cannot find any information on this particular ship (HMS Lark) or know of anyone who joined the armed forces.  Just wonder if anyone can shed some light on this picture.   Such as when the picture was taken, where it was taken etc.  The indentation says J Cook, Ayr, N.B. (Scotland).

Bedfordshire / Bastardy Bonds - Greenfield, Beds
« on: Saturday 15 September 07 13:35 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the Bedfordshire Bastardy Bonds, in particular for Greenfield, Beds?

I am trying to look up the registration of Dorothy Maud Weston-Downing b. 10 January 1903.  Mother:  Charlotte Weston.  Father:  William Walter Downing.  The parents did not marry until June Quarter 1903 so would be interested to know if there is a story here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Lesanne, sorry its taken a long time to respond to your message.

Yes I have traced the CROSS family back to the village of Tingewick in Buckinghamshire, England.  They were stonemasons and built many of the houses in the area.  You can see their distinct brickwork in the village with the "flemish" design.  One of the CROSS'es "John" Cross went to Tasmania, Australia and on a visit there a few years ago, I found lots of Cross built houses as they were exactly the same houses as "back home".

After my great grandfather finished his travels, he settled in New Bradwell/Stony Stratford, Bucks.
