Hi Ellenmai,

On the 1939 Register there is no Hollyhurst Road listed; I found a Hollyhurst with two homes there, but that is very close to Whitchurch, which is the wrong one.

I don't have any names at these addresses -- I'm trying to make a file of previous occupants at one one these cottages, for a friend, but I'm stuck at the first hurdle!

Paul.

Hello,

I am trying to find the above address on the 1939 Register, but though it comes up with something, I think it's another Hollyhurst...  In fact I cannot find anything on this Hollyhurst Road.  I've also looked on the 1911/1901 Census with no joy.   These houses are located near to the Combermere Memorial/Monument.

Thanks in advance.
Paul.

Hi CiderDrinker,

Thanks for that info.  Sadly I don't know if the JWH on the 1910 Electoral register could be either of these men, but thanks for trying.

I'm specifically interested in a William Hotchon, mariner, who was supposedly married to Barbara Alice Irwin c.1886-1936; she remarried in 1918 and was shown as a widow.  I came across this JWH on the FindMyPast 1920 Electoral Register, and wondered if it was the same man, due to the same spelling of the surname...

Best wishes,
Paul.

Yes I know -- Hotchon could be Hotchin or Hitchon, but I suspect is it probably Hodgson, of which there are many...

If he could be found on another Electoral Register, possibly an earlier one than 1910...

Best wishes,
Paul.

Hello,
I am interested in John William HOTCHON who on the FindMyPast 1910 Electoral Register was living at 9 Annies Grove, Scarborough Street, South Newington, Sculcoates, Yorkshire.

I have already checked the 1911 Census (Selina Hubert/Huberth and Whitfield children from her first marriage) and the 1901 Census (9 Annies Terrace, Hardcastle family), but I've not been able to link him to either family.

I am specifically interested in the HOTCHON surname, in order to locate a William HOTCHON, a mariner, but I have no other info about him.

Best wishes,
Paul.

Yes I think this Hugh Henry is possibly my (Presbyterian ?) relation.  I think this Hugh's father was a George Henry, also a Weaver.  Thanks for that.

Hi Sam and Isi,

Thanks for that additional marriage info.

Another Henry/Gilmore link is spinster Agnes Henry who died 19 April 1909 at Ballynamagna -- the informant was her niece Bella Gilmore of Ballynamagna.  Joseph and Agnes Gilmore mentioned above, had a daughter Isabella/Bella born in 1887 at Grallagh.  Spinster Agnes Henry died aged 74 so born about 1835.

Hi Isi,

I've had previous contact with "b" whom I believe you are related to, regarding Hugh Henry etc.

On my Henry tree I have a Agnes Henry c.1851-1896 who married Joseph/Jos Gilmore in 1870 Banbridge vol.16 page 237 (I don't have the actual record, but got this from the Indexes).  They had a daughter Mary Ann Gilmore born 27 March 1878 at Ballnamagna. Subsequent children from this marriage 1885 to 1887 where born at Grallagh -- Joseph 1885 and Isabella 1887.  Then in 1890 Samuel Gilmore was born in Bessbrook, Newry, Armagh.  These folk are on the 1901/11 Irish Census, but I am not aware of a Catherine Gilmore.

The Mary Ann Gilmore above might be the one who was informant (who lived at Grallagh) of the death of her Grandfather Hugh Henry in 1907 at Rathfriland, which would make Agnes Henry Hugh's daughter.

Best wishes,
Paul.

on FindMyPast the 1891 Census record appeared ok.  I've found this stuff:

1901 Census: 48 Essex Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool:
Mary J Watkins mother/married 48/1853 B Ireland Rostevon?
1911 Census: 39 Tennyson Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool:

1937 FreeBMD D Search: JFM 1937 Liverpool South 8b 253 Mary J Watkins aged 84/1853.

Mary Jane reverted to her Wagstaff name on the 1911 Census with her three boys.  It would be interesting to find out what name she used on her headstone (if any)...

And here is one of her boys:

Quite a bit of money there ... note the house name...

So I think there is some link to Clonallon near Rosstrevor.

Griffiths Valuation lists Gribbin/Gribbon in Clonallon, but I see no Henry's there.
