 I have family buried in the High Church Cemetery.The High Church is now used by the university as a social club.It's very near the Cathedral.I don't know what's happened to the graveyard it had.
 I have a lot of family who died in the area of Duke Street and some say High Church on the death record but I wonder if they were buried in the Eastern Necropolis.
 What do others think?

I knew about Easter's birth but I didn't know anything about Eliza Dunlop.I've only seen the birth online I don't have her birth certificate.
 Yes I was asking about the workhouse,it was because my great x2 grandad died in the Newtownards one and I wanted to know if it's possible to access the records online.It seems that it isn't.I contacted Proni as they have them but I think you have to go there to see them.
 I'm sorry if you think I'm maybe wasting people's time,I don't mean to,it's every so often I'll go back to something I haven't solved and have another try.

 This is probably a very long shot but I'll ask anyway.
  I saw a program about babies being bought and sold in Edinburgh in the 1800s.The babies were advertized in newspapers.
  My great gran had a baby in 1874 called Easter(Esther) McCafferty,she already had a son William James and she went on to have another daughter,Mary.She didn't marry their father until 1877,they then went to live in Glasgow.Easter was not with them and I can't find a death or anything about her any where so,I was wondering if she was adopted via an advert in a paper Annie would have had to get someone to write it as she was illiterate,maybe someone said they'd help her with the baby and put the ad without Annie knowing.Or maybe my imagination is running away with me!!!
 My great gran was Annie McCafferty,she married Thomas Gunning.If he wasn't the father of Easter he may have insisted she was adopted.
 I don't know the siblings Annie had,one of them could've taken her.If I can find her siblings I could look for a child born at the right time.Maybe her mother,Esther McCafferty,nee Hollinger,took her.
 This is one of two puzzles I have in my tree and I'd love to solve it
  Grateful for any help or thoughts from folk who know how things worked in Co Down at that time.

Thank you,no I don't drive I would come on a ferry from Scotland and I just need a place to stay that's reasonable so I can look around at where my family lived

 Thank you for your kind words,losing a son at 23 must be so hard to bear.It used to be the case in Ireland,and other places that if a baby(or an adult) died having not been baptized they weren't allowed to be buried in a cemetery,they had to be buried outside it.To my mind,these are all rules created by the church and are unacceptabe.
